Hi group

I was just wondering if any of you guys do options trading. I have been wanting to get into options for some time but never got around getting a margin account. Today I went and applied for my margin account with e-Trade, canada. I only have theoretical knowledge abt options. I have never traded in options before. Are there are gurus in this forum who can guide me. I would also like to know if there are any discount brokerage companies who deal with options. E-Trade is expensive.

In Canada, options trading done only on Montreal Stock Exchange though I hear oil futures is to come to TSX. Derivative trading on TSX will be in the next 5 years perhaps.

Dangerous stuff. Was good for the last 3 years . Made a lot of money. Been losing in the choppiness of late, so have taken a breather. Will recommence maybe later- see how the market sort of is going.

I was doing well with options untill last month, wherein one deal not only wiped out all the gain, but also left me with some financial loss. However I still believe advance knowledge like straddle, collar etc would have helped me to cut the loss. So will be trading cautiously for a while in todays volatile market.

I trade thru Interactive brokers and pretty happpy with them, they are very cheap comparatively.
