Hi,
We will be flying to India by Air France. With all the changes in rules for liquids being carried aboard I am not sure of the best way to but some whiskey but not have to dump it because of security at Charles de Gaulle (CDG) airport.
So here's my dilemma...
Scotch is extremely expensive here in Canada. Buying it and putting it into checked in baggage would be the simplest way, but due to the costs that's not an option.
I don't think I canbuy it at Toronto airport duty free because I might again have to dump it at CDG because of the EU rules.
Same question about buying it on the flight from Toronto?
I could buy it at CDG, but I think the duty free is Paris is pretty expensive.
Any ideas on how I can get the cheapest buy and yet not risk losing it?
To the best of my knowledge, whatever you buy at duty free airports are packed in a seperate zip locked bag and handed over to the Airline staff with your seat no. You get it when you land in Mumbai. They pass them on internally to the staff at the connecting airport / flight.
The quantity you can buy at Duty free is however limited...not sure if that will be enough.
All the best.

Two things:
1. I found that Delhi airport DFS is cheaper than Canada or any of the European DFS.
2. Have not travelled much after this liquids ban came into effect. However, when travelling from Chicago to toronto last christmas, I had bought some stuff at the airport. They packed the stuff in a sealed bag and attached a copy of the receipt. I was given the same package at the gate to the aircraft and carried it with me inside the aircraft. I am told that is the way it is done all over. So what Hiren has written is could be right or may be you will get it at the gate before entering the aircraft.

Thanks Chandresh. I have also heard about Indian DFS being pretty cheap...a friend of mine said that some of the stuff might be fake; not sure about that though.
I'm hoping that the stuff at Pearson will be package according to EU rules.
