I pretty much feel the same way you guys feel. Sg was the most convenient & easy country to live in. The only problem was the work pressure and the long working hrs. I think I will also go back after a few years. I really miss the great food and variety of electronic stuff we get there.

Cheers
rsk

I think it is the other way around - some of the western malls are like Singapore - the rest don't stand anywhere near Singapore standards.

You of all the people should know that who is an architect by profession.

Chandresh

The malls in Spore are newer than the ones here in Canada. However new malls constructed in the west or growing economies in Europe like Spain are far superior to any in Spore, HK, BKK.

I am not knocking malls in Spore- they are amazing. I feel though when one talks about the west on this site one is referring to the US, Canada, UK, where malls were constructed in the 50s. Check out Spain sometime. Construction going on there continuously.

However, choice is better in the Far East. Also 5 star hotels there are better than here in TO. Even the 5 star hotels in Mumbai are better than in TO. Restaurants are better there than TO. Even the Indian restaurants.

Have you spent more of your working life in US or in Asia? If more in Asia, then it should not be difficult to blend in Singapore style - simply because the work ethics of Singapore are western in nature, and the team spirit is of Asian nature.

Chandresh

Chandresh,
I am in USA from last 7 and half years and I worked in Singapore for 18 months and 10 months in India so worked in the states for most.
In USA I enjoy lot of things like working from home, flex hours, generally relaxed working environment so not sure its the same case in Singpore now.It was not the case when I worked over there.I worked long hours in Singapore(around 10-12 hours a day).

Hi rsk12,

I came across this thread. I was wondering how is your view now after 4-5 years, because I am planning to do the same i.e. to migrate to Canada from Singapore.

He is in USA now and doing some business analyst job (He is not an Engineer though).
The bottom line is : unless you are in IT or Finance, immigrating from Sing, Malaysia,HK Fuji, Timbuktu would not matter. You will still have to struggle in Canada. But the Govt. of Canada needs you big time here.
Peace

Thanks tamilkuravan, I am in IT. But I guess everyone has to struggle while relocating. It should be ok if the person finds himself in comfortable position after 2-3 years of struggle.

Hello sing2can:

Welcome to Canada. If you are an IT person, having enough time, resources and positive mindset for settlement ... soon you would find a comfortable position in Canada.
