Could you please let me know how much a Senior software engineer can earn in Canada for a Permanent job? If it is a contract, how much is it for hourly?

I have heard that in canada there is no senior junior kind of thing. Once you are layed off from your job, you have to find any level job and start to work again. So in last job your annual pay was $70K, then next job would be $40K.
believe it or not, that's how it works there, no fix structure.
