I was shocked to read the replies from senior immigrants. I am planning to immigrate. Will start process soon.
Would like to know how much can I save, working in canada. Please reply.
(I am an engineer)
More questions....
Description of lifestyle you wish.....Own house? New car?
Family size?
Age?
Do you want your spouse to work?
Would you study here if do not find proper job?
By the way, you are an engineer in which field? Canadian experience, references, contacts........?
Savings could be close to zero! Do not come to Canada for money !

Canada...another name for struggle in life!
Depends on how much you will be making at your job and then again, what you will be saving for. Like Mazdoorgta mentioned more details will be needed for us to advise.
The poster who started this thread gave us enough details.

the advice that we give to a 21 yr old will not hold true for a 47 yr old.

I am a mechanical engineer. I have done PG in Safety and Environmental Management. Presently working in ACC Ltd (A prominent cement company in India) as Asst Manager (safety and Environment). My salary is Rs 25,000 p.m. And I am currently 25 years old.
I am aspiring to settle in Canada with my wife. Wife willing to work. I am mentally prepared to live even in a single room accomodation, Spend minimum money possible and stay in Canada for atleast 10 years and come back to India with my savings.
I am not financially sound to go for studies in Canada immediately
Will it be a good decision to leave my job and immigrate. What will be an average engineer's salary and what can be the savings if I stay in a cheapest possible accomodation.
Only me and my wife will be immigrating.
Senior immigrants........please advise
I dont think Canada is a good place for you due to your long term plans. I would think that places in the ME which have little or no taxes would be a better place for you. Canada is best for those who want to call this place their own. Why would you put up with the high tax rates if you do not plan to stay here for the long term?
I personally think you are coming here for the wrong reason and would advice you against the same. But hey, you know what they say about free advice and what its worth.

Veer... Plsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
Do not leave that job you have in India ! Thats good money . If your wife is willing to work, then ask her to take up a job there. You guys can live great there.
There will absolutely be no savings here in Canada ! Trust me on that ! I concur with other posters here on this forum.
Best of luck
