Any good Places in Toronto /GTA to get good quality Alphonso mangoes at reasonable rates?

Some of the local indian stores up here, sell these boxes called Alphonso mangoes but they do not taste the same as the ones we are used to getting in Mumbai which come from Ratnagiri or Devgad areas.

I have heard that some specific Alphonso specifies like these Ratnagiri/Devgad managoes are now being exported to few countries starting this year but do not know if and where they are in toronto or GTA .

Especially fellow CD's from Western region can attest to the taste of these mangoes from konkan belt.

Also Kesari mangoes are good too, not sure if and where we can get those either.

We've picked up a few boxes already this year. In terms of quality, there isn't much choice. The stores I visit (regularly), allow me to mix-n-match ;)

In terms of price, I've seen a big variation, almost a $3-4 difference. I uslayy pick ip from the Indian store at peanut plaza. Last price I paid was $19 about 2-3 weeks ago, I'm sure that must have dropped by now. Last year, the last boxes I picked were for $16

Hmm..like yourself, I too pick up my Alfonsos from Ali Bhai at Peanut Plaza. Picked up a box last Saturday for $17. They were not the jumbo sized Alfonsos that one can pick up from Crawford Market in B'bay, but the mid-sized ones.

Thanks guys.

Where is this peanut plaza? How is the quality and where do these mangoes originate from in India?

Peanut Plaza is located on Don Mills just N of Sheppard. The road bifurcates and the plaza is in the middle.

As regards the quality, like freakoutguy mentioned, not the best like you'd get at C'ford Market, but good. They originate from Bombay, don't know if they're Ratnagiri or Devgad. I'd think they're Ratnagiri

I have picked up both Alphonso and Kesari from Iqbal this weekend as well. They are pretty good.

He gets it fresh every week from India and with the monsoon season beginning in India, we should be pretty close to end of the season for mangoes.
