Error in name on the Notice of Assessment

Hi Guys,

I just received my Notice of Assessment today but they have not spelt my first name correctly. How should I go about rectifying this error? This was the first time I filed my tax return in Canada.

Thanks.

Contact CRA - the phone numebr must be there on your notice of assesment. They will give you further directions if needed.

Thanks for the info Cdn_dude. Just called the number 1800 959 8281 and talked to a representative. He verified my information and corrected the error.

Now I have to go to the bank with the refund check. If they accept it thats fine otherwise I will have to send the check back to CRA so that they can issue me a new check with my correct name on it.

A small typo in the name, should be fine - the bank will accept the check. I've accidently deposited my daughters check in my account and it cleared. The bank even cleared a post-dated check that I deposited.

Thanks for the info Sudesingh. I went to TD Bank and they deposited the check in my account.
