News -- Vajpayee's grandnephew thrown out of running train
Press Trust of India
Lucknow, January 26 : Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's grandnephew was killed on Saturday night after some eve teasers, whom he had tried to stop, threw him and his two friends out of a running train near Kosikalan in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura district, a police headquarters spokesman said in Lucknow on Monday.
Manish Mishra, the grandson of Vajpayee's sister Vimla Mishra, died of injuries sustained after he was thrown out of the Chhattisgarh Express, the spokesman said. While one of his friends has been admitted to a hospital with serious injuries, the second friend is still missing.
Manish and his two friends were returning to Kosikalan when they saw some youth, allegedly from Meerut, teasing some girls, the spokesman said. They intervened and an altercation ensued between them.
The youth, allegedly in inebriated state, roughed up Mishra before throwing him and his two friends out of the running train, the spokesman said.
Police were informed in the morning when some villagers found Mishra, who had died of injuries, and one of his friends lying near the tracks.
Mishra was a BSc student of the BSA College in Mathura, the spokesman said. His father Mahendra Mishra is an employee in the Jindal Pipe Factory in the Kosikalan Industrial area, he said.
The GRP has registered a case and efforts were on to trace the culprits, the spokesman added.
I read that too. Hopefully, the perpetrators will be caught...he is the PMs relative after all, not a common man (sarcasm).
I dont know if such incidents are common place occurances there. Are they?
Here is another article from mumbai. What I find chilling is the last bit at the end of the article. I forgot that life was cheap there. However, 258 people died since jan 1 2004? A misprint?

that is not a sample of india. lets not generalize issues here. not every indian is that kind. just take that example.. there are the victims who tried to help and there are those culprits. we see such people even here..
people here ask me about hinduism just with the knowledge of gujarat riots. it is not india and in particular, hinduism. those are not hindus who can kill a pregnent lady by ripping apart her womb. they are just animals. not a characteristic of a nationality or religion.
we see such animals everywhere.. there are no boundaries for this behaviour.

You are right we should not genaralize.
However, since you bring up the Gujrat riots, there maybe something to be introspective about here.
On 9/11 about 3000 Americans died when a bunch of fanatics flew the plane into the towers. Maybe a handful died as a result of revenge killings directly linked to that tragedy? Ofcourse, that's a handful too many!
However, 58 hindus died when the train was burned. Approximately 700 muslims were killed for that. Sure there are heroes who tried to help their neighbours irrespective of their religion...but, for 700 to die, there were not enough heroes and atleast a few hundred killers.
It is true that, the American govt did use and continues to use 9/11 as a foreign policy tool to kill thousands of innocents in Iraq and Afghanistan. However, we did not see the common American respond by killing his neighbours. The American govt also made sure that not much more blood was spilt on their own land...of their own people. They were smart enough to realise that they did not want to encourage that flawed thinking in their own homes. They took it elsewhere.
Let us not call the people who killed that pregnant lady and her unborn child 'animals'. They were not animals...they were us! We allowed them to happen. We are not talking about one psychopath but well organised posses of killers. Dissassociation will not make India a better place to live in. Such talk makes it easy for us to evade responsibility for the actions of the society we created and are responsible for. Each Indian has to be ashamed for what happened... thats the only way it will not happen again!

Pathetic......Pathetic.........Pathetic
The local crowd in UP, especially wetsern UP are the rowdiest you will ever see....i am sayin from personal experience.....
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.
The problem is Utter Pradesh. The politics, police, pollution, power... all the things with P are really in very bad shape.
The state is always under the influence of antisocial persons, even the political parties like Samajvadi, Bahujan Samaj etc are having lots of members from criminal world.
The basic root of this problem is
Over population
That is because of poor education levels, lack of employment opportunities, castism, racism.
Unless we can have people educated, they do not accept social values. We need good enforcement which at the moment does not exist.
The number of cases pending in UP Courts is so high, one willget justice after his death.
UP is just GOONDARAJ.
we see movies and make them hit when a hero goes on a killing rampage in the name of revenge. that is the thing narendra modi and his administration did in gujarat. they just made things worse with their deeds.
just think this way.. if only such train incident happen here.. leave desi angle.. think it as some thing purely native issue here. what will the govt here do? first try to maintain peace with strict vigil. sadly, i cant say the same about the judicial system in canada. but any responsible govt. should also act very swiftly to find what triggered that incident.. how and why it went that far where 50+ had to die.
what hurts me even more is.. the same butchers came back to power in the state.. which prompted people like narendra modi, pravin tagodia to say they will try gujarat experiment in other states also. how pathetic!!
hyderabad has much more tensions between hindus and muslims. but the administration there took every possible step to stop any such things. then why only in gujarat? do you think hindus did that really? who do you think gave the printouts of names of members of muslim households?
its the administration.. just to come into power. they were horrified with the local bodies election results and did this heinus act.
i am much more surprised when narendra modi came back to power. when ever i see / meet a person from gujarati.. i try to understand what happened there.
when i read a incident like satyendra dubey (IITian who was killed by mafia for writing to PM) i feel sad, angry with the administration. but when i see the amount of anger for this incident which prompted PM to order enquiry, i see a lil ray of hope.
you cannot say only in UP it is bad or in Bihar it is just mafia or in Gujarat it is all religious fanatics. these diseases are there in every part of society.
education, broad perspective towards life, self confidence are the things that help fight these demons.
