hey,
Do a search for Mtl/TO comparision on this site. In brief...housing is cheaper, public transport is cheaper, Taxes are more, roads have more potholes.

There is s thriving desi community and most desis are well-to-do because most come to mtl with job in hand...like you(and me 8 yrs ago). You can pm/email me for specific questions.

oh yes, we are a lot cooler :p

Oui, sil-vous-plait!

Its spring so with all the beautiful women out one tends to forget the past :). Especially how one swears to move out before next winter.

Not if you already have a job. Most companies service clients down south...be it garments, software, pharma etc. So there are opportunities for english speaking immigrants.

My 8 yr old daughter who is fluently bilingual often is the transalator for me in the rare situations I need French(e.g: to speak to the gas station attendant during a winter trip to the laurentians). She says it makes her sad when I attempt to speak my halting French :).

Like I mentioned most people who come here, do so with jobs in hand(especially due to the french language issue). If one does have a good job, the partner can take his/her time to look for one. So even though the jobs an english only candidate can apply for, are limited(compared to say BC or TO)...most eventually find one. I would not advise anyone to come here without a job though.

GForacle.
Heres info about MTL. Its dated a cpl of yrs and the only difference is that the cost of public transport pass(train+subway+bus) is now $80 a month. The rates go up or down depending on the zone you live in. Ive heard that the rate is more than 100$/month for just the go train in TO...the Torontonians can confirm.
