nikhil,
tks for the daijiworld.com site. will browse through it anyways even though i m not a mangi but sounds good.
yes there would be anywhere a better place than dubai. as said earlier the only not secure thing is Visa. Dubai is booming, real estate too, people can purchase houses for Dhs. 9000000/- etc. and the good thing is u can get mortgage just like canada. i was just telling my family here that after we get our citizenship, if things don't look all that good, will give dubai a shot and yes the good thing is ur closer to your folks back home and you are guaranteed a paid annual vacation to your hometown.
even though dubai is booming right now, the bubble might burst any moment. i would say get the citienship and then try your luck again in dubai.
Intransit that is applicable to you too.

Yeah, I was in Dubai from 1974-1979 and it sucked the hairy wazoo(sorry ladies) but bad! I worked for Ambassador Hotel at the outset and Astoria Hotel (where El Rancho is- great restaurant!) was being built. Then worked for ITL , Citibank and many others. In them days- Manu Chabbria of Jumbo was a salesman for Sony- now he owns the distributorship! I hated the place. Of late though working for Birla in India they would send me there several times a year to get NRIs to invest in India. It has changed quite a bit for the better- but still I like the West ( and i don't mean Africa nor South America nor central America jes in case there are some smart alecks out there!) many times over!
As a matter of fact, I have shares in Al Razooka exchange and Pure ice- cream in the UAE- but I have abs no desire to live there - even now that one can buy property there. Best to be a sleeping partner in some businesses there and live in Canada, the US or UK.
I have lotsa cousins, uncles and friends faring well there- as a matter of fact a close friend of mine living there wrote a self-improvement book called "Taking the High road" which has received rave reviews in the Times of India. he is the General manager of a company that has the agency for Sharp products and Minolta cameras, Rhythm clocks among others. For those living in Dubai maybe you heard of him- fella by the name of Ram Buxani.
At any rate not my choice of place to stay and definitely no heaven! No way!

I agree with what ccherryl and the-entrepreneur have said. The one good thing about working in a western society is that one is exposed to cutting edge technology especially when working in R& D or related areas.
the-entrepreneur saheb I have heard about Ram Buxani and Manu Chabbria. If I remember correctly then Manu Chabbria had named his flagship company after flying in to Dubai in a "Jumbo jet" aircraft.
ccherryl I think one more advantage of working here in Canada is that the retirement age is 65 years and not 55 as in Dubai so the earning potential is more here. And with such low rates of interest people tend to buy their own house after working for a couple of years.
The one advantage which Dubai has is the proximity to India, flying home is so easy the other one is to shop at Lulu's and win a Mazda car ( just kidding).
By the way the website address is daijidubai.com and not daijiworld.com
Thanks and regards,
Nikhil
Hi all,
Me too... like you all.......a PR holder.... but back in Dubai......
Waiting for Passport......Which will help me double my salary........
No place like Dubai on planet.......7.30 pm life just starts here......whole night the place is alive......have you ever heard of traffic jam at 12.00 midnight.......thats happening in Dubai.......
I remember my days in Brampton.........Steeles @ Hurontario......near shoppers world.........the whole place is dead silent after 8.00 pm......
In Canada people enjoy the day and sunshine........but at night its drop dead.........People migrating from Dubai will find Canada life being lonely and silent.........especially those who have detached houses away from Toronto.........
Canada is definitely great..........but 90% of people going from Dubai will definitely miss DUBAI..........

S’up Deep?So Dubai is the best place on the planet? Have you visited all the places on this planet? Lucky you!
your criterion is that IN dUBAI life starts at 7.30 pm and then continues till late night/ early morning and that here Brampton is dead at 8.00 pm. However, downtown Toronto is still alive even in the winter right past 2 am. However to beat that is amchi Mumbai- it don’t never sleep! Better than New York City!. But better than even Mumbai is Spain- Madrid , Barcelona, the Canary Islands. If ever you get a chance to visit Spain do so( sorry, you probably have- since you so confidently say Dubai is where it’s at- I imagine you must have trucked the world) There are bars at every 2nd corner so to speak open 24/7. Bistros, discos where action starts at 12.00 midnight right thru till dawn breaks and then still you party on the beaches ( in the Canary Islands) and also there are nude beaches- open for one and all. That is the best place on earth for partying! Bryan Adams,Madonna, Michael Jackson, Metallica, M &M , 50 cent, Sonu Nigam, Johnny Lever ( IE all ferang and Indian artists) all go there to perform. Besides places mentioned before, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Indonesia also rock! Dubai just don’t cut it! There are multi-millionaires there- but as far as fun goes- no way near other places in the world.
Anyway, to each their own.
Rock on!
