Another issue...
When ever a person goes to Desi Shop(Most of them doing cash transactions) they charge you GST and PST, and when you ask them for GST and PST # usually they get angry... i am pretty sure we all know they never report this to CRA... IS it Morally Right.............what you think about this kind of cheating....

The above is a study about people on welfare..what it is like being on welfare in Ontario.
There are many stereotypes.Yes there arelikely many people using the system..but in likelyhood most people are genuinly facing numerous barriers and this is the only way they can avoid living on the street, or stealing or doing other crimes.
I have worked as a social assistance case worker so I am familiar with systems and clients of the system.
Mental illness is on the rise. These people may not be able to maintain employment but if you see them passing you on the street you may not be able to tell that they are mentally ill.
Single parents do not 'have it all'. They have to pay back ot the system any child maintenance they receive. Let me tell you - many fathers do not pay child support and as a group, whether mothers or not, women have traditionally been marginalized in terms of pay equity, education etc. If they have been raising children they often face large gaps of unemployment. Child care may not be an option if they work at minimum wage jobs - that pay just enough that they dont qualify for government subsidized daycare.
I guess my point is: you cant generalize. everyone is different and their situation is different. Yes I have had clients that were not motivated to work... but there are different reasons why.
Secondly- why would you go to a desi shop and ask for a gst #???? why would you pay in cash then if you think they will swindle you? people also go to desi stores expecting to bargain and pay cash to get the best deal.
