You get a brand new passport with a new number.

Try to get ur old passport back and keep it with you for a few travels. I luckily had my old passport, and the indian immigration wanted to see it upon my return from India.

Agreed, we should use the term "New Passport" after the end of life of the old one. FYI: I never carried my old passport along with the new one and never had a problem.

In my opinion: If they ask and if you do not have an old passport with you, what are they going to do? Deny you an entry into your own country? Huh! All they can do is scare you or scold you.

Won't they give you back the old passport, esp. if it has valid visas?

I got a new passport booklet in 2005 since my old one was finished . The new one has barely got 4 pages used up. My passport is expiring next year .

Does it mean that they will attach a third booklet and provide me a new Passport number even when my second booklet is barely used ?

Nope. U get a new passport...a brand new one..

They will not "attach", but will provide you a new booklet with a new passport number. It is not the only use of the passport, but it is the age of the passport (and your photograph in it).

Really?
There's no column in the form for that.
Also, there is no comments section either.

I've already filled out the form and didn't see anything.

I am concerned about this because I have unexpired visas on my current passport that I need for my travel.
