Hi,
I am in my last semester of school. I got a speeding ticket in Barrie, ON in August for doing 120 km on a 90 km. By listening to my classmates I paid that
I got accpeted by graduate school and I will file my Canadian residentship..
Now I am applying for visa renewal, and file permanent residentship next year...Will that speeding ticket affect my status? I am very nervous about it now.
When I fill in "have you ever convicted to an offence, or crime", should I say no since speeding is not a crime?
Thanks buddies,
Hello!
Looks like you are Engr. BenPrasad's Son. Many posters in Canadian desi advised him of many options to throw away the ticket without much ado but looks like you took the worst option.
Anyways, Minor traffic infractions like what you got is no way considered as an offence/ crime. This will not show up in your immigration and citizenship file. This is the beauty of being in Canada
So be in peace.

Hi..Thanks so much
I got some entrance scholarship and brought a little car, I did not expect I will be pulled over in the first month..
Now I feel much better... But will that the speeding ticket show up in the police records check?
if anybody knows
Quote:Not in a police criminal records check, but yes, in the MTO driving record.

It won't show up in police records. But i know friend of friend of mine was driving 170 on 100 zone and he was pulled over and he had record in police file showing " Dangerous to other driver" because he was driving almost double. So your is not a problem but be careful buddy. It is good to drive + or - 15 km/hr.

Dear TK,
This is hurriedly drawn conclusion. The guy of OP here matthaus_2000 is not known to me. My son is in final year of his university education. He has taken services of a lawyer for his speeding ticket. The date of trial is expected soon. I will keep posted.

ya I not Ben's son, but it seems we have the same Canadian driving issue.
Thanks you all for replying, that is really helpful
And to Ben, good luck to your son too, hope that cop is absent from the court
