BTW, I do not want you to rephrase your sentence with a different word (like acknowledge or something like that). You expressed your views and I expressed mine.
Cheers!
This one here we completely agree on.-----------------------------------------------------------------

If you ask , its questions , if I ask it is meaningless rant
Looking at your qs -
Sunita Williams is an AMERICAN female astronaut who has achieved a lot : agreed I hold her very high as per her capabilities as I have admitted before also.
Sunita s dad was born in India.... Agreed but NO she wouldn't have learnt much about India if she visited the place thrice in 42 years and was brought up in a mixed culture - plus grew up in the US . Might have been different if she had both Indian parents and had more ties.
PM meets her .... well its a part of the protocol he greets the Pak PM also ....that doesn't prove she has done anything for India ....
Bullets - I have cited above which I would care for you or any one else to respond to.(produced below for convenience )
If some Indian female takes her as a role model , she would also have to accept going to the US , becoming an American , joining NASA and then achieving as a part of the picture .
Please - I do not have anything against her - she has achieved a lot - my point is that achievement doesn't go into Indian coffers or help India remotely and hence not really a reason for Indians to feel achievement in .
'1. What Indian ness would anyone have left behind with after being born and bred abroad to a non Indian mother and an Indian father who diluted his own culture and Indian ness by marrying a non Indian ?? She married a white American further diluting whatever she had and I wonder if their children would have any Indian identity left ??? (if they have obviously)....samosas ... and maybe a namaste also hmmmm I wished she knew her language.... maybe thats also been transitioned since she has visited India only thrice in her 42 years .
'With the help of an interpreter, Sunita narrated the experiences of her 195-day space odyssey'
2. What has she done for India - I wish she would have returned and been the 'second ' Indian to go into space ~ then all the celebrations would have been understood .
3. What has she promised to do for India in real - recall the protagonist in Swades who returns back. Well she can always help India with her experience and knowledge if she believes in India .
4. Why are Indians going gaga over her when she is NOT and Indian - NOR has she done anything for India - NOR will ever do (in most cases) .She had last visited the state in 1998 ..... 9 years back ... for her association with India .'

You wont understand the concept of inspiration ...... for you " blood" is more important tehn anything ... I guess it would have been ok if she had married an Indian Gujju .... but to marry a " white" guy ... that really sets you off ....
On Bharat Ratna ...... we gave it to Nelson Mandela ..... why ..... he is not an Indian nor he has any Indian hertiage ........
