I need to move around $4k from Canada to India. From my CIBC a/c to my bank in India.
Recently I had two cheques totaling $205 that I had deposited in my NRE a/c in India. Today I see that I got abt Rs. 43.33 per CAD. This is less. I will check with the bank on saturday as Friday is holiday.
I dont want to lose 2-3 rupees per cAD again. Can someone please suggest how I can move $4k without losing a lot like I did for that $205.

I hear some people use Zakirbhai.
Don't know much maybe someone else who use him and tell us?
I don't have any problems in particular with Zakirbhai, I am just requesting you all not to use any Hawala system.

Use any bank service and send it officially but please DO NOT use hawala because it promotes terrorism and black money movements. Sometimes, there are chances that you will receive few fake bills (in the bundle) in India which will cause your entire funds seized by the banks or other authorities for further investigations.
Please avoid hawala, you may get few hundreds of Rs more in India but it is not worth promoting terrorist activity and black money (tax payer's hard earned money) going into swiss bank a/c. You don't want to be responsible for innocent citizens of India killed by bombs and terror attacks.
State Bank of India in Canada will give you good exchange rates. You don't need to open an account with them to send money. You can simply walk in the branch, fill up a form and send it (costs $ 12). If you are sending often then open an account with them (costs $ 8).
Thank you for helping our Native Country.
Sorry, now, I did realize that you are not in Canada anymore.
Use money2india.com or get help from your Canadian (Indian friends living in Canada) friends.
Good point. Hawala system promotes terrorism and you may get a few hundred rupees (and some fake notes also slipped it).
