Ben,
Let me tell you what to do. $100 a day is not a lot of money these days in India but I am sure that you will find something.
Leave the other 2 people in Delhi airport. Walk outside the airport and catch an Auto/Taxi. Ask the driver to take you to Hotels near the airport with your budget. Once you find the appropriate hotel, book the room and come back to the airport in the same Auto/Taxi and then return back to the Hotel with the 2 other persons and your luggage in one or 2 taxi's. This can save you a lot of money esp. if you are paying for the hotel from the fixed amount that they give you. Also you can check the hotels first hand (ask them to show you the room first before you book)
I would advise you to look for accomodation around CP instead of the Airport (depends too) since the hotels around the airport would have increased their rates significantly hoping to cash in on business/ corporate travellers.
You did not mention with whom you would be travelling. Are the other 2 your chinese managers. If they are Chinese, then I belive that they would be looking for some high class accomodation. But with the budget that you have, you must settle for lesser rates.
All hotels which have online webpages/ website would command a preminum.
You may also check if IIT Delhi/AIIMS/ PWD Guest house etc... offer guest rooms to the public. That would be the best and cheapest accomodation available if you find something like that near CP/ Airport. Delhi residents would be able to help you more on this. I am also not sure if Delhi has a water shortage problem. If so, it would be wise to enquire about how long water will come in the shower.
Hope this helps.

Never ever do that in Delhi. As soon as you let the Taxi wala know that you are new in the city, you are gone for ever.
Try with ITDC or Ashok Group. They would able to provide you accomodation on reasonable rate.

You know you are a desi when ........ You spew forth the virtues of India, but don't want to live there...............You've never had a tanning salon membership
Tk, the taxis in Delhi especially at airport and telling them stories and revealing as a stranger to the city...is sure way of calling "Aa bail Mujhe maar" come hit me I'm available! No one should ever do that. The renowned hotels have their own taxi services which are safe, use them for city trips. While booking a hotel arrange for a shuttle with them for airport to hotel.
I've been born and brought up in Delhi and 8 yrs outside India, never open your mouth to inform in shops or anyone in public one is a NRI, act like a Delhite and one can be fine.

Wish to share my experiences of India visit. This was my first visit since I came to Canada six years back. It was 2 AM when I touched the soil. It was soil and smoke all around even at that time. After waiting for the luggage to arrive on conveyer belt for good more than an hour, we (along with many other passengers) found all that piled up in one corner. A staff person standing there told smilingly that he was taking care of it. I didn’t have Indian currency with me, so ‘just thanked’.
We headed to a four star hotel near airport. Price tag of INR 8,500 a day was not enough to get nice rooms. These were very un-clean, badly (un) maintained and sans basic facilities. On top of that, there was big smile on keepers’ faces to get tipped. After making us comfortable in our rooms they candidly informed that they won’t be around tomorrow morning, so…made us pay tips there and then. They greeted us with morning newspaper with wider smiles. The water bottles were all unsealed and refilled. I was told this is filtered water (filtered with cloth?). While checking out I enquired if the bugs and other crawling things in rooms were not charged extra. They were all in smiles. I added some extra bucks in my budget to buy those smiles.
The retuning experience at the airport had even more smiles. At check in counter the person could not find my name on passenger list from the electronic ticket I had. He demanded the paper ticket to allow me to board. He was persuaded to smile. Then he demanded more for (4 kg) overweight. I paid and machine for printing receipt was out of order. The scanning people checking hand baggage asked very courteously if we got the tags for our bags at the check in counter. Well, a police personal on duty obliged us providing those tags from his pocket. He told these were last with him and how he will help more people. Rs. 50 made him shun this worry and smile.
