The use and providing a display with Fire Crackers are legal on certain days in Canada and it is restricted to an area that is watched and monitored on those days by the Local Fire Departments and the Police. On those days they try and avoid any calamities or mishaps, due to the incendiary nature of these and a few going astray, in use. They do not want to see people get hurt by them.
It will be wise to consult the local Fire Departments and the Police if you so desire to use these pyrotechnics, on any occasion that they are permitted. You may call them and inquire about its usage on Diwali days and the locations at which that they are permitted, since Diwali is an unknown thing to the locals here.
If not handled and /or used properly, Pyrotechnics are dangerous. You may have to learn the safety and usage of these and know how to handle, store, and carry these on the local highways and also of the same in your own premises. {WHMIS and Material Safety Data Sheets}
You may also find that your actions, knowledge or the lack there of, might put you in jeopardy and in financial ruin.
So, consider yourself warned, if you have any of these on your premises currently. Local laws are very stringent and I would not like to see a few that derive a small pleasure, by its use, get unduly punished for not knowing them.
We are in a new country, so please, do not give them any cause or reason to suspect ourselves other than as normal residents of Canada. Respect and obey the rules and they respect you back for that.
Freddie.
