Dear all,

Any suggestions/recommendations for a moving company who can transport my goods from Toronto airport customs to a place which is 250 Kms north of Toronto?. We have about 4 boxes with approx 700 Kgs of weight!

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks.

Maxtor

Dear Maxtor,
The links that I am providing and the suggestions that I make were used by me in the past. One of the companies, PMCL, has currently merged with the Greyhound Transportation. I knew the routes plied by them to the North. They all are into Parcel Service too. So please contact them and verify if they carry these to your location, destination that is. If they do, then you will have to break the contents after clearing the same and in their parking lot and then Repack them and book them, near by the Airport location.

Get yourself a tape dispenser for a buck/two from the Dollar Store.
Start collecting some Cartons from now till you are ready to use them.
And a dozen rolls of cellotape or Scotch tape, for sealing the cartons.
A good hammer and a pound of nails if they are in wooden boxes.
Get all of the lables and stickers from anyone of the Transport Companies.
Get the packages through the Customs. Stick those lables that you picked.
If you are travelling with the items then rent a truck. That is the cheapest.
You will need a ONE ton Panel Van. Minivan will not do 3/4 ton of parcels. Ask for a freind if he can do it for you. It is a full days run.

If you are shipping them, then contact the people here under and find the
nearest receiving office. Carry the same and hand over the parcels to them.
Please note the size restrictions and labelling instructions. Can you break
the contents and REpack them and bring the sizes down to a level reasonably small, for the handlers to manage. Number the boxes, with contents if you can, after clearing the goods.

CANPAR has home delivery.
GREYHOUOND has a delivery from Depot to Depot.
There are other private carriers. But they might charge you TWO ways.
It may cost you $500. Buck a klick plus return. But it will be Home Delivery.
Contact these people and get a direction to proceed. Evaluate the costs.

So, pick the same up from GreyHound Parcels at your home town.
Since you did not provide the location to where it is going,
you have to do your own search and routing.

They have merged.Do not know their routes, so contact Greyhound here under.

Except for the sentimental items, you could have bought all of these, NEW, right here and may be fresh or the current models too. No hassles.
We live and learn.

Freddie.
