hello all,
arrived end jul 2007 and am having goods shipped over from Dubai (ahh DUBAI!!!).
Goods to Follow list submitted when we arrived. I need to clear them from the airport and take them home to north york.
Just seeking advice on the clearance procedure and whether it can be done by me, or do I need to hire a customs agent?
rgds,

Hi Newboyo
You don't need a agent for clearance .
All u do is take u'r doucments from u'r shipper and go to the customs clearance office and the pick u'r stuff once the clearance is done .
It is very smiple and easy . U'r shipper will explain the process .
My husband did it all by himself . No hassel with the customs .
This is our experince . Anyone one else can put their 2cents in.
regards
jenny

lets party
I can share my experience, but it was in Feb 2006.
I did not have my list of goods stamped at the airport when we arrived,
(it was midnight on a sunday evening, so the concerned office was closed
and I went back to get it stamped later).
Our goods arrived after a month or so.
When your stuff arrives they will inform you, (there is no harm in
calling them up and cross checking by giving the airway bill number).
Ours was air cargo, a few cardboard boxes.
You have to go to the customs office at the Cargo section at the
Airport (Derry road or so .... I don't remember). They will check
all your documents PP, Landing Certificate, list of goods etc
and you have to pay some money I guess it was about $50.
After you pay this, you have to go to the cargo collection center
which is a couple of blocks away.
They will give your cargo right away, you will have to load it yourself.
All these offices operate round the clock so you can go there even
late night.
(try avoid telling people that you moved in from Dubai) my personal
advice. Everybody thinks that you have a Duck which lays Golden egg
everyday in Dubai.
All the best and welcome to Canada
Tom

Dear all,
Thank you very much for your inputs.
Any suggestions/recommendations for a moving company who can transport my goods from Toronto airport customs to north york. We have about 20 cartons/suitcases etc - large but not too heavy.
