Hi,
Has anyone experienced a legal change of name (with the provincial office of the registrar) while CIC application was in process?
If yes, what did you do? Did you call CIC and inform them? Did you state this fact before you received the oath?
I received my legal change of name document BUT I have not used the new name ANYWHERE. ALL my documents are still in the old name. I want to wait for CIC process to end, then change all my docs.
Why?
CIC website clearly states that name (on citizenship documents being processed by CIC) cannot be updated once the application is started. The citizenship card will still be issued in my old name. (Even if I call CIC, they won't be able to update my name).
CIC representative advised me not to change the name on any of my documents such as PR card, DL, Health Card, Passport, bank accounts, etc...but to wait for the application process to end; ONCE the citizenship process is over, I was told to promptly submit another application to CIC, so that a new citizenship card (with new name) can be issued. This is what I intend to do.
Naturally, I have no criminal record whatsoever.
Anyone with same experience?
HI Sirious,
send you PM....please check
Regards,
kayani
You should tell judge before you take the oath
