If I could afford the price tag, I would definitely go for a Sienna or an Odyssey. It pays back big time! and I am sure they will also have to adjust their prices sooner than later, it's all fundamentals of economics.

Well said ! but what about mileage and insurance cost? Anybody having some knowledge on it ? I am looking for another car as SUV ! Any salesman over here are welcome to PM me or write me on with their canadiandesi username ! Thanks

Yes CD Friends,

Finally on Thursday, we took the keys of the brand new 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT with a black pearl color. It was indeed a great feel of satisfaction for me, when I saw my surprised father, when I stopped my car next to the new car at the Dodge show room on Hwy 10 and 401 and told him in Gujju "Pappa aa Gadi kevi chhe (How do you like this car?), He said, "sari chhe" (its nice) and I went inside, came out with the sales guy and opened the car for him.

The actual price for SE/SXT is very very different and hence read the fine prints before you go. For me, as it has always happened, I went to buy the basic and found myself finalizing the top line. Thats how I have lived my life and I can't help it. However, this was still a next to the top line as my eyes were stuck on the TOWN and COUNTRY. But this SXT has got many good features, such as 3 different climate zones, Compass, side doors sliding glass in a van, DVD entertainment, etc...

If anyone needs more info on my bargain, let me know.

Rgds,

Vj.

I am sure you must have weighed all the pros and cons, but being an advisor and driving more than 30K km a year, I have found that buying a car is better than leasing because of the driving km upper limit on leasing.

Could you run a few numbers by showing that leasing would be cheaper than buying, if you don't mind. Maybe I could learn something?
I believe you are an advisor and may travel a lot as well.

Hi Investpro,

Yes, you are right. I have done my own calcluations and based on my true belief of certain things, I took this decision, which varies from person to person. My calculation has many factors, which has nothing to do with my professional life and hence my numbers would not be the true EXAMPLE for fellow CDs.

However just to give you a glimpse, it was difficult for me to afford a full value of such a Car with financing compared to the residual value of the car in the leasing option.

Regards,

Vj.

Hi VJ,

Congrats on your new car and I can feel your pride of ownership - I had mine for the past 7 months...

Just for other CDs, there is a very interesting financing scheme from Hyundai dealers - its a combination of finance and lease. If any of the models suit your requirements, I believe this is one of the best schemes I have heard of so far. I bought my Van from them and and paying $420.00/pm on ownership costs for 60 months. This actually compares well with most Van LEASING prices, and it is not a low end model - its mid range with power everything (except trunk), removable middle row seats, hidden last row seats, cruise, air, 6 airbags.. etc...etc..and I also like the intelligent space utilisation in the interior.

Disclaimer : I dont own any shares of Hyundai or not related to any Hyundai dealership.:D

Rgds,
Hiren
