Peace

Earning (salary) is also increased in the last few years, which is a lot more than the official poverty line in India. On the top of eveything, if you have peace in mind, it is good.

A flat selling for 3 lakhs in 2002 is now around 60 lakhs.
Thank you for taking your time off to study this.
Proportionate to the price of petrol as of Dec’2002 which was Rs. 28.91per liter and the current price which is Rs.74, the flat should have been selling 2.6 times more at 7.8lacs or at least less than Rs.12lacs.
All the wealth generated by economic boom is getting absorbed like rain drops on desert sand by the triumvirate of greedy businessmen, corrupt politicians and conniving public sector and government servants. They cannot flaunt their ill-gotten money and it goes into hiding.
Manmohan Singh said he would bring in 100 days, black money stashed abroad. It is more than 2 years. Advani says it is more than 25 lac crores. “What BJP did?” is meaningless as the Congress asked us to vote for them saying BJP was good for nothing. If they are unable to be a better option they should step down. They don’t even “try” to be, rolling in the cushion of “En Bloc” minority votes. They are dividing the people, cheating the minorities that they are their “saviors”.
Congress says it is discussing “double taxation” and “treaties”. Where is the question of taxation on money “stolen”? Why should we “search” for that money? Whoever stolen our wealth and deposited outside is unfit to live in our country. Exile him alone to tsunami and reptile prone land off Andamans. We are stretching our scarce resources by way of taxes paid by ordinary people to provide for whatever infrastructure, which why these Bs should enjoy, filing “nil tax” returns?
The NPAs suffered by Public Sector Banks also runs to about 5 lac crores. The black money bags have only created the NPAs.
If only MMS had decided to collect these, the story would have been different.
With so much injustice happening around us, though ashamed, do admit there is no peace of mind.

Property prices have gone exponential in recent years because it's the ideal place to allocate black / unaccounted money. Whereas, petrol prices are subsidized by the Govt., that's why you don't see the true cost of petrol. If you really want the true price of petrol than check European rates (it will open everyone's eyes).

Black money is a problem & will remain so, this is exactly why property prices in India will continue to flourish while majority population will struggle to get food on the table.
PSU Banks deficit is the reason why enormous amount of Rs will be printed ( or rather Rupee devaluation) which will be witnessed in High inflation in the future. No doubt some bit of inflation is due to growth in the economy, but a lot is to do with Rupee devaluation..

Thanks for your response. That the petrol prices are “subsidized” by the government is a canard propagated by the government.
One interesting link is http://kshitij.com/research/petrol.
Recently came across a news item which stated that Venezuela price was cheapest, followed by Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain etc. But what about the excise and customs which is 56%. Why they should also go up like dollar or crude price increase? The government is totally silent on this, because they can do nothing about black money and NPAs.
One very common example how ordinary people suffer is from the urban office going women folk lives. They usually commute from their homes to the nearest bus stop or railway station which will be a few kilometers away and the auto rickshaw fare they paid was about Rs.20 an year and half ago, has gone up to as high as Rs.50 now.
To borrow a sentence from the documentary Fahrenheit 9/11, when MMS and other cronies in the congress wake up in the morning, they think what good they can do to big corporate. Because they are the ones who provide more than 99% of the party funds. The ordinary farmers, quarter million of whom have committed suicide in the last 15 years, do not have Nira Radias to lobby for them in the parliament.

Import oil from abroad put import duty, refinary charges, then tax on tax. Inflate the price to three times then start giving subsidies. And make price negative to total cost, which is anyway still very high to actual cost.

Indian government making fool for many years. Basically Indian goverment making lot of many by increasing oil price. I read one article written by one expert.

Indian government use this extra money to waste here and there. So even India buy $20billions arms actually $14billions to actual buying and $6billion go into Swiss bank account of politticains and arms dealers.

Then government go for shopping to buy arms for military and politicians get commissions from arms dealers. In early 90s commision rate use to be 5% which is now reach to 20%. Even India is the largest buyer of arms for last couple of years, when 26/11 bombay attack happened Indian police had second world wars guns, anti terrorist squad had bullet proof which can not stop desi gun bullet made in village and Indian commandos did not have vehicle to take them from bombay airport to Taj holtel.

So what is the actual cost of petrol ... care to enlighten us !!!
The price of petrol subsadises price of diesel in India. That is why you find diesel price aroung Rs 40-42 and the petrol prices around Rs 70. Golbally the price of petrol and diesel it is same. Diesel as a fuel is used for all commercial transportation in India and any increase in its price will effect food etc which effects the comman man or the have nots in India. However rise in petrol prices effects people who travel in cars, motorcyles and autos or the middle class or haves in India.
Rise in fuel price is a reality every Indian has to learn to deal with. India imports 70% of its fuel requirements from overseas and it is effected by global crude oil prices and also dollar conversion rates.
Economic growth comes with its own woes and the sooner we learn this in India the better it is .

This is the very reason India has to buy arms .... our armed forces dont have the reasources to deal with our changing security concerns. In our neighbourhood we have China and Pakistan, two countries spending almost twice of what we are spending on our armed forces. I dont have to tell you that they are not very friendly neighbours.

Putto,
Good analysis.
People would have to pay the real cost of petrol or if need be an increased cost of petrol to balance the subsidised cost of diesel/kerosene/LPG. I would go a bit further by stating that cars (like VW/BMW and the rest) should not be allowed to be pumped subsidized diesel.
I have parked my car at the garage and am using public transit. I donot need to pay a bomb on the insurance in India as I did in Canada
Peace
