Wondering if any CD member has tried making Kefir? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kefir
It is supposed to be a good probiotic (better than yogurt).

Hi Raj !
I have not tried making but yes consumed it a lot while posted in Russia .
They do not have yogurt ( Dahi ) . Kefir is something more similar to MATTHA or DAHI with little water added .. Came in bottles at those time ..
Enjoyed every bit of it ..

I make and drink kefir regularly.
It is very different from yogurt, since the bacteria that culture the milk are different.
Also, unlike yogurt, you can't start a new batch by using culture from the old batch - you need the grains for each batch.
It is also more senstive to temperature and conditions than yogurt.

Thanks rajcanada. I tried a few people from both the websites, but unfortunately none of them have the grains at this time.
Thanks
