I have heard that Emirates treats South Asians passengers differently. Specially on the Dubai to South Asia routes.

And Chandresh ji,
In what class? I assume that you might have travelled in Business class (since you are/were in a high profile job) . Business class service is always better than the Economy class that we always travel.

I have flown both - business and economy, and the true way to compare is when you fly economy. Business class is usually very good in all the airlines.

My top choices would be:

Singapore Airlines
Malaysian
Thai
Emirates
KLM

Hi Johny,

I'm actually very surprised to see Emirates staff behavior, I always thought they were the best...can't believe. I've flown a lot with them and liked it always. I agree with others may be its racism again, stewardesses do that often.

If one asks me then I'll say that British Airways and Virgin Atlantic are not bad either...but again the racism thing comes, I don't know what’s the reason but I've noticed that they are very polite if one is confidant and shows a self respect. If we can't respect ourselves and are afraid or hesitant it takes minutes for others to take us for granted.

Once at a KLM flight during b'fast when I asked for my veg B'fast (booked as Veg) the steward literally sat on her knees and said "Sweetheart I'm really sorry, I see you did ordered but many people (she was hinting Indians) just came to know that today is Tuesday (she asked me the reason for this) and are asking for a veg B'fast but their request at time of booking was for Non-Veg, they just changed their mind because its Tuesday" I laughed and explained that its "Hanuman day" in India and the reason they want to have Veg today! (especially since we were flying from Delhi).

Different cultures, different people, actually its not easy for them too!

Jona

ALITALIA is worst. The Air crew blames ground crew for major mistakes in the meals (Ultimately customers don't care who in their internal departments are at fault, we know that Alitalia is responsible).
KLM is not that bad.
If Domestic service (Mumbai to Ah'd) is any indicator, Jet Aiways International service should be best. I have yet to try it.

I recently flew Lufthansa, via Frankfurt, to Spain and the service was excellent all the way.

I was especially worried because I flew with my dog and they took good care of him as well.

i have seen an india born canadian crew member of air canada (guy with french cut beared) misbehaving with indian pessengers and making fun of them with his gori counterparts. it was a very bad scene. though he was harsh to indians but was very polite to goras.

the indian pessengers were not demanding wine but they were asking for veg food which this crew member of air canada was short of.

what do you say? the whole scene made me hate that guy.

I hate N. American airlines, the service is all so mechanical, with plastic smiles and some stewards hating their jobs. You can easily sense through their dreadful service to other passengers. The service is definetely different to goras and different to indians.
Also many passengers look edgy. The atmoshere in a N. American airline is tense compared to Europe Asia and Africa. There is very little chatting, less smiles, more laptops and books.... People looking more stressed out!
Maybe because of 911, I dont know...
I travel a lot to Africa. The change is dramatic after transfer at london Heathrow, the stewards have more genuine smiles, are more humane and understanding.
The chatting, smiles and happy faces increase dramatically. The smiles now actually reaches the eyes. The books and laptops are fewer. The tense faces dissappear altogether. Changing planes in Gulf and Africa is a breeze with less security checks etc and generally people are very very friendly.
BA, Virgin, Emirates, SAA, Kenya Airways, Qatar Airways, Saudia and Gulf I have always encountered A1 service.
I sometimes wonder if we in America are paying a price for the technological advance. Are we losing out to nature...we are always always acting. eg handshakes, smiles, looking in the eye etc Always acting...
