Hi All,
Any lawyer on board who can guide or share implications of any similar experience , I am detailing below.
I am sold packet of yoghurt from a leading food chain store which states "best before MR03", I have already consumed some of the units, it is only after suffering some stomach upset symptoms this has come to light.
I can go to the store and they shall definitely change the package for me, what is of grave important is the callous attitude being adopted by these food chain distributors, manufacturers who play with lives of masses without any guilt.
I seek information , guidance on the following issues:
1)Are there any laws which prohibits the manufacturer of selling food stufs after the prescribed date of expiry?
2) Is there any monitoring on whether this laws are observed or not?
3)What are the laws which a retailer selling dairy products has to observe, and who monitors them?
This is a case fo gross deliberate attempt of playing with lives of masses for some petty gains.
I have heard that food retailer like Mc donald and Tim horton are throwing down the drain some of the food products daily if they are not sold after certain hours.
Can anybody guide me on what steps can be initiated against this careless approach by this food manufacturer and retailer?

Are you sure, the MR03 does not stand for 3rd March, 2005?
You may want to recheck by going in the store again and checking the dates on the other containers, maybe that's just the standard format for the company that manufactures that yogurt. Yogurt containers usually don't have expiry by months, they have them by specific dates.
It highly unlikely that you got sold a yogurt package intended for March 2003, if that's what you're saying. If this really is the case, you could consult a lawyer.

Are you there?
Thanks Bluelobster, I realise it could be 3rd Mar , dairy products are having dates and not year as their exp date, Thanks again.
I am now relaxed.

A link on the net covering labelling requirements! MR 03 would imply March 3rd rather than March 2003.
