I had a chance to fly by Emirates to India recently.
This is the first and last time I am flying Emirates. They have the worst possible in flight and ground staff service.
Air India is better than Emirates, and Air Canada is almost 10 times better than Emirates so you can imagine.
A few examples of conversation between passenger and in flight attendants that I overheard are:
Passenger (politely): May I have some water, please?
Flight Attendant: I HAVE ONLY TWO HANDS, How do you expect me to give you water?
Poor passenger kept quiet. I wonder whether he is going to travel by this airlines again.
Passenger (after 1 hour in flight): Can we have a head phones, please?
Flight Attendant: I left head phones here before you boarded flight. Did you or ANYBODY STEAL IT?
Passenger (with an infant): May I have some baby food?
Flight Attendant: Did you order it?
Passenger: Not sure.
Flight Attendant: Then why do you think that we have baby food?
Do you have any similar experience in Emirates or any other airlines?
well i have almost similar experience with respect to baby food and veg. meals on air canada..

There is no pleasure in having nothing to do; The fun is in having lots to do and not doing it.
I belive that bad eggs are everywhere. I have suffered in Air India, Air France.
In Air India the air hostess was around 55 years old. She had to put on a thick reading glass to take out the wine that i ordered.
In another Air India flight from Malaysia to Singapore, they gave me a stale sandwich which must be atleast 2 or 3 days old.
In Air france, Almost similar experience. when a passenger near me asked for Jam b'cos the bun offered was stale, an air hostess said rudely that they canot entertain each and every one's needs. The air france trip was from Toronto to Paris and it was between a Gora air hostess and an Indian passenger.
It also depends on the route. You can expect rude service between the gulf to India destinantions b'cos of the unruly behaviour of Asian labourers working that and unless you put on a suit, have the Canadian passport in your pocket and shave off your mush, they would think that you are a labourer from the gulf.
Air Canada does not fly the gulf to India route and hence their air hhost/ hostess would not have seen the mentality of the Indian labourers and hence you see the service as good. I also have not had bad experiences flying AIr Canada.
I have also found that Gulf Air air host/ hostess are pretty decent.

I flew in Emirates many times both from Europe & Dubai to find their fleets are the best but their customer service is still average. Their ground staff in Dubai were pretty stiff most of the time.
I'd been flying for about 12 years now and I found Singapore Airlines qualifies over all better and Cathay to some extent. Used at most all major airlines except few.
Srilankan was good. Never flew Qantas & KLM.
Believe me or not, I always had best service in Air India / Indian Airlines might be because I used to request them when I need something in place of ordering them. At last they are not our maids.
Crew has to have a real good training to fly from Gulf to India to handle the passengers who are seeing liquor, unveiled women after 2-3 years. They treat the Air hostess like their maid literally and they expect Johny Walker to flow like river in the plane.
Any how, I've learned to keep my expectation low no matter which plane I am flying. I used to spend reading magazines of my regional language and get hooked to movies. Can't sleep much.
Over all, Air Travel is stick

Have flown almost all the major airlines in the world - except Swissair and Alitalia - and I would say that Emirates would be one of my top choices for travel!

And Chandresh ji,
In what class? I assume that you might have travelled in Business class (since you are/were in a high profile job) . Business class service is always better than the Economy class that we always travel.
