A recent incident that my close friend experienced makes me open this new thread and all newcomers or even others may watch out!
My friend's purse was picked at a gas station. It carried her SIN, PR card,Health Card,Credit cards,ATM cards and some cash. With the purse was attached her key ring that had her house and car keys.
Now she is running around everywhere filling up forms to get new cards after filing reports about the theft.imagine the stress!
I think if we lighten the load from our purses it'll be safer and easier for us. Heres what we can avoid:
1. SIN ( Social Insurance Number) card:
Unless you really need it like for some interview etc. Avoid carrying it and you avoid an ' Identity theft' case. Memorize the number if you just need to put it while filling up some form etc.
2. PR card(Permanent Resident):
same as above.
3. Keys:
Do not carry all the keys except your house and car keys and also don't forget to put a tag with your address and phone number.Keep a duplicate at home.
4. Do not overload your wallet with Calling cards if possible.
5. Credit /Debit/ATM cards: donot carry all the cards all the time everywhere.
6.Cash : avoid large amount of cash.

Avoid the avoidables to make your purse more managable!

Any further inputs are welcome.

Good point.
avoid using Credit card out side the gas stations...I've seen two cases where they used cc outside and next bill they found that their credit was bottom out.. played with those machines bcz easy to play with outside ones..

why would i put my address on my House key??

If it was stolen..the person now has easier access to my house.

Yes is right, is like "aa bel muje mar", but i really agreed whatever HelloG said, It is really good if you take out some unnecessary cards from your purse or vallet.

Atleast if you loose your purse you can save some energy and time to cancelling all cards and can avoid some tension and scam.

All the best.........

The Health Card and DL has the address in them...

If we can plan things so well for everything, yes, we can keep all these at home.. but then, if u need to visit a doc suddenly when outside, u will need the health card... if u need two forms of govt id, DL and PR card comes handy.... Tough Choice!

That's not true with the new chip card.

Thank you morning_rain to point out the mistake..my bad! Yes it is never a good idea to leave your address on key tags ( realised this after submitting the post:h ).However it is also true ( as pointed out by viggy) that our DL and Health cards will carry the address. What to do?
How about a cell number ?
So i guess the only option left is to get the keys/locks changed ASAP.
