Sir,
My PR card is due for renewal by March 25. I am short of 70 days against the PR card renewal reqt. (I have been staying in Canada for the past 660 days only and I intend to live in Canada with own house etc). How the immigration authorities will treat my application for renewal?
Since Immigration authoritis are asking for copy of complete passport, I have to disclose short in stay (less than 2 years in canada).
If any body had the similar experience and succeeded in renewing the PR card, please share with me your experiece / advice.
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
several people I know went thru this issue.
If your 660 days are at the outset you may have a problem, which can also be resolved, but if your 660 days are in the latter part all you have to do is to stay 70 days longer and then apply, so long as you comply with the residency requirement in the previous 5 years before application
If your PR expires doesn't mean you have to renew before that date, you can renew after that date as well.
The PR card is only needed for traveling purposes. If you do not have a valid PR it does not mean you are not a PR.
You can google the govt site for that info.
How long does it take for the PR card renewal process ?
What documents need to be submitted ?
How much time before the expiry can we apply ?

Fido.
Dont apply for renewal of PR, just stay on and dont travel outside. Once u complete 3 years apply for citizenship..
Hopefully they approve.. they are within their rights to invalidate ur PR status and deport u..
Why didn;t u come in 70 days before ..
As far as buying house and all they count to 0 towards ur renewal/Citizenship application...

I was thinking to follow the route which Investpro explained. But after reading
' dudewheresmycar's comments I am scared now!
It would be safer if you accumulate 100 or more days than the required days, and then apply for renewal of PR Card.

If a person's PR card expires, does it mean he cannot legally work?
