Alternatively, people can lighten up a little and meet halfway such that the moderator is not flooded with complaints from whiny babies about how one offended the other :)

I am assuming we are all adults here and have a higher degree of threshold when it comes to taking comments with a grain of salt. Come on now...you can set a few things straight with PMs.;)

Either that or the mods themselves edit out some of the ridiculous posts and suggestions in the first place....that would be fair. That way no one would see the need to keep objecting to something or misguiding others. Also no one would feel obliged to step in to settle scores or accuse anybody of favoritism. We can also make sure nobody posts anything negative about Canada and nothing negative about India either...because if one does so, it can be offensive to others who may retort in kind. Also nobody should post anything too positive because it may offend others with dissimilar experiences.

Of course we would also need to elect the person who would decide on what is ridiculous and what is not....and who can decide what is too positive and what is not etc.

However, in the interests of keeping this a free flowing 'forum' and not just a bland newspaper, lets keep it as it is...Like MR I think its going well.

I don't know about Negative Stuff. Its all Subjective/Perspective/Relative. For some people on Board Truth can only be Harsh & Negative. So I am not sure you can implement that.

Boley to ... are you serious ya phir yeh Ander wala Jake hai?

Forum is going quite good.

When you Chew & Stretch a Topic like Gum, all you'll get is Bubble which eventually will Burst. Long Threads are culprits in bringing wrestlers out in the Mud Ring. I don't know how you can control Long Threads.

I would suggest to limit number of pages in one Thread and if thread is really good, it obviously is entitled for Sticky. And even if it is not sticky, Lock it and allow only one/two contributors to Append it. Too much of work I guess for mods. But we get very few long useful live threads. I can only think of 'Parents Sponsorship' one - started by Trinity.

My 2 Cents ...

Let me add another ground rule. Please DO NOT quote other people's feedback to express views or counter-views.

This thread is purely for you to express your views on CD Moderation, which may contradict with someone else's and that's fine. But don't start a discussion.

Secondly, its always easy to leave things at a high level. Try to be more specific and sometimes, you'll find that your own suggestions may not be implementable. without an elaborate framework which we don't have time to build. I'd like to end up with something actionable at the end of this vs. great ideas that leave a lot to interpretation.

Since a moderator's advice / actions / comments some times may be subject to his own perceptions and not necassarily correct .... it might be better to have 2 mods discuss things (when needed) amongst themselves and neutralize this possibiity -- not asking for a jury but 2 should be better than one on controvertial issues .

Obviously for obnoxious posts / threads , this does not apply and they are removed / deleted / edited rightfully at the forum . I saw a couple of them deleted yesterday itself .

This thread is a very good idea - not all suggestions can be implemented but even if few of them can be , this thread would have served its purpose .

Another unrelated point for the mod's attention - links in the 'Search ' box do not work .

Hello there Moderator,
I do go through the Canadian Desi's different headings from time to time. I also know that you do support free classifieds here, but at a separate location. Most of us post questions and expect answers in 'Charcha' section and have noticed that you do not permit posting of such messages that has a different connotation and shows that it is a type of advertising that you do not want in that section.
Just so that we get to see all of the postings to this website that are posted each and every day, regardless of the categories that they fall in, so that we also get to see the total postings at a glance with categories alongside, if you can make this feature feasible, I will surely appreciate this. Because the one who posts an AD some times may not get the exposure and attention or response back from all of us, that he/she merits.

Can you make this feature feasible or possible if all of us want it?

Thanks,

Freddie.

Sorry guys, I was really tied up last week, so could not really spend any time on CD.

I'll keep this thread open for end of this week, after which I'll summarize the feedback and action items as promised.

Keep the feedback coming!
