Hi
I have Toyota Camy in lease. I am canadian citizen and recently got contract job in Dubai . I may or may not returen to canada. so i am planning to break lease but my CAR DELEAR said, i need to pay about 12000 to break the lease.
I am just thinking to drop the car at the Delear and leave the country. Can anyone please let me know the legal problem of doing this.
Appreciate you answer.
Few years ago I know a guy who did it. I made a offer to take over his lease if he pays me $2K. He was in second month of lease and got the job in Singapore. His intention was never to come back. He went to the Dealer and returned the car and asked him to send the tab to his address. The guy was never there when the letter would have come. He made his bank balance zero and cheques would have bounced back or he would have closed the account. Collection agencies could not do anything as he was not in the country. He surrendered his plate before giving the car to the dealer. As far I know he is still in Singapore/Australia and working there. (His cousin and I are good friends) It is over seven years now.
BUT HIS CREDIT HISTORY IS SCREWED AND IF HE WANTS TO COME BACK HE HAD TO DO A LOT TO GET IT BACK
