Hello everyone,
In my Honda Civic (2001), the timing belt needs to be replaced.
Where can I buy a original Honda timing belt for lower rate? How much do the mechanics usually charge as labor for belt replacement?
A mechanic quoted a price of $460 for timing belt (not the Honda brand), water pump and labor. He claims that these belts are as good as Honda ones.
Are these local brands equally good? or only Honda brand timing belt is worth for the money?
Please provide your inputs. Thank you in advance.

timing belt ~$35
waterpump ~$105
You can buy your parts from any Autho. Honda dealership. if you are looking for original parts and give it your mechanic to fix in your car. atleast you know that you purchased original parts. parts are not costly but labour are very costly.
at Honda dealership you will get warranty of 1 year or 20,000 kms for both parts and labour warranty. ask your mechanic may will help you out.
Note: Honda rec. to replace timing belt and water pump is 7 years or 176,000 kms whichever comes first.
