Hi,

I applied for citizenship in Jul first week. Theu opened file in mid Sep. They sent ack letters which sent by them on Sept mid I got in Oct end. When I check online it shows Received. Please tell me, when file will be transferred to Etobicoke, and the test date, and total process time. Please tell probability of passing test, what happens if somebody fails the test from written as well as judge interview. Can we give the test from outside, as if in some locations, they ask you to give the test early, and then apply, what are those agencies, please give number.

Citizenship process generally takes about 'an year' or less.

If you moved the time taken will be a little longer due to the transfers of files. If you are now in Etobicoke, then wait till it gets moved to that location.

The Department of Citizenship will send you a study book. After you read the book and get to know the questions and answers, you can write the test. But prepare yourself thoroughly for it. You can pick the date if you are not ready. If you are, then you can go and write the test.

Every body passes the test. 100% pass. No one fails.

Interview with the judge is for those who have problems with the calculation of times and who move out of the country and do not have enough time etc., and a lot of other items that you do not have to worry about, for the time being.

There are other ways and means of passing the test by attending classes close to where you live and write the test at that place. You can do that too.

Since you have a lot of time go through the link that I am providing and read the letters from others and get a lot of information from them. The thread is good. So take your time and write down your notes from the letters and develop your knowledge base with it.

Good Luck.

And Merry X-Mas and a Happy New Year.

Freddie.

I called up some places in etobicoke. Theys said that test can be done only alfterwards, not before applying. I asked from Mississauga also, they also said the samething. But one of my friend did that 3 years ago, and he gave the test before applying. Now if anyone can tell me the agency or person who takes the test before actual time, please give me the number, and thanks for telling me that 100% people pass the test.

There is a catch! (........But prepare yourself thoroughly for it....)

You should be able to pass it as long as you read the book. You can also join the citizenship classes, which would help.

If you fail the test, you go to interview with judge. If you fail the interview, then you can appeal it or start the process from the beginning again.

If your application has been filed and you have a number and an acknowledgment from the Citizenship department, then you have 1095 days and you should be free to join the classes where you inquired at in Etobicoke and Mississauga. Now ask them and find out why you can't join them. They better have a very good answer. If it is just joining the classes in the question.

Now taking the test before the actually applying for one will be answered by the people who hold the classes. They are the ones who decide who is ready and knows all of the materials that they teach and also has qualified to write the test. Some are smart and do the reading in their spare time and move ahead of the classes. They are the smart ones. If you can do that, then find out from your friend who boasted to you that he did the test before applying, how he did that. After you find out, you can do it too. Then do tell us, so that we can tell the whole world how to go about it, and get Citizenship of Canada without applying first for it.

Will you do that?

Thanks.

Freddie.

Hi Guys,

I am due for my citizenship test in two weeks from now. Does someone know how much time does it normally take for oath after the test? I am planning my India visit in March and have to book tickets. Is it possible to defer the oath by calling CIC to reschedule the same on a later date? Well, on the other hand I am flexible for India visit to another month if this couldn't be the case or they mention it's not possible to defer the oath. Certaily, citizenship takes the absolute precedence in this case.

Does someone know if it's feasible?

Thanks in advance.

Here are some time lines for Citizenship. Only a few postings that I see.

Works out out to about four months after the test.
