To Naresh Patil.
You must be a millionaire to invest so many $$$ just to find out which firm was good. There is no other place or firm that will give you so much info than the Net.
Hope you are not trying to fool any of us here on Canadiandesi. Or are you just trying to pull the bull by it's tail.
By the way on what category are you applying? I think it must be on Business, considering all the precaution you are taking.
Good Luck to you and did anyone tell you that there you can get Free asssessment?

Mr. Pratickm thanks for your comments. It did help me to some extent confirm my decision.

Applying for immigration is not like applying for a job. If it gets rejected you move on to other shop. Sanjeevm's and few others comment are naive, not worth commenting. Dont take immigration literally - if it was that simple there wont be immigration house around the world.

Yes I am aware of free assessment, based on which I contacted the firms. I contacted firms only after they approved my initial application. But everyone wanted me to sign up for their services so they can advice according to my case. Only one firm ( Quebec based ) stood up to the standards I was looking for:

It is important to note that qualifications alone are not the only factor in determining whether or not your visa application will be successful. The Visa Officer's discretion, positive or negative, can play a crucial role in the final outcome of your case. The Canadian government has indicated that Visa Officers may apply negative discretion to cases that exceed the minimum point requirements more often than in the past.

One's case should present evidence to the Visa Officer of your ability to become economically established in Canada in an effort to have the Visa Officer exercise positive discretion in favor of your application.

These points AND many more account when you apply for immigration. I needed advice on how all these points could be put together while preparing my application. How they would reflect in my application. Any dumb tom dick and harry can prepare or give raw advice on immigration ( which is what I want to stay away from ).

Again, applying for immigration is a one big step in life. It should be carefully evaluated. Even a simple well qualified case might get into problem and in turn affect once future dreams. Being careful and seeking right advice would never hurt.

Before you give dumb advice, think twice. Be responsible - it will only help everyone plus members on this website, unless you plan to make fool out of yourself.

Anyways, not worth arguing - I was seeking some help or good advice. If anyone still wanna share a firm or lawyers name please feel free to email me. Rest is just waste of time and space.

Naresh,

While your analysis about applying for immigration is perfectly correct - I think what has invoked such a response which you tend to call dumb advice is the way you put your original post. That included two such things in my view - first, 'money is not an issue', and secondly, you paid all the consultants simultaneously without first assessing the first, or say to be very careful, the second. You did not wait to see what the first or second immigration consultant comes up with, neither did you try a source like Canadian desi before you approached or paid the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and the 6th consultant.

Long ago, when the movie Mera Naam Joker was released, I remember having read a review which said, in the first of the three parts of the movie, Raj Kapoor proved himself to be one of the 5 best directors in this world, in the second part, he proved himself to be one of the 5 best directors in India, and in the third we start wondering whether he should be called a director atall.

Please do not mind my comparing your post to that review. By analysing the finer points of application for migration, you have shown that your immigration should be approved without even looking at your other credentials (education, age, financial situation etc.). By putting a question to Canadian desi and seeking advice for an immigration consultant, you have shown that your case should be considered on merit. However, by writing the two things I have mentioned above in my first para, I have a feeling the immigration officer might reject your case outright even if you had fantastic credentials. Hope you understand, as an intelligent adult, what I am trying to convey.

The advice given to you by Sanjeev might look to you as silly and dumb, but I think he is right in all respects when he says you might not even need an immigration lawyer. I did not go thru an immigration lawyer, and I know scores of people, and a dozen or so are my good friends, who DID not go thru immigration lawyers and had no difficulty in getting their applications approved.

You will have to really think hard and decide why do you need an immigration consultant - is there anything lacking in you, or is your case a bit complex in any particular manner. If none, I think you will be able to get answers to most of your queries (not absolutely technical) from Canadian Desi itself.

And as you have rightly pointed out, the visa officer's discretion can play an important role. If he does not like the way your immigration consultant looks or talks, he might decide to reject your application!

And let me tell you once again - if money is not an issue - than your immigration is guaranteed, since that is the major issue for immigration / visa officer as had happened in MY case!

Naresh, it looks like you have familiarised yourself with the immigration process pretty well.
I commend you on that.

You have taken the first right step by getting familiar with the process, and the factors that are important.

However, I can't imagine how you could do such a naive thing as dishing out $3000+ before even hiring a firm.
I think that is what prompted the kind of responses that you got.

This is true to a large extent.
Most law firms will not give "legal" advice before establishing a client relationship with you.
What you could have done, instead, is ask them for their credentials as follows:
1. How many cases of your type have they handled so far?
2. What is the approval percentage in cases of your type that they handled?
3. What is the percentage of interview waivers that they got?
4. References and contact information of references.
5. Have they registered for CSIC, or do they plan to?
6. Do they provide money-back guarantee and how does it work - especially exclusions.
7. What is their turnaround time for queries - email/phone, etc.

These are some of the questions that you should ask before paying anything to the firm.
As you rightly said, immigration is not a trivial matter.

You are right about this - perhaps the single most important factor in an application is how well the case has been prepared.
All claims must be clearly and conclusively documented, leaving no gaps and nothing should be left for verification and clarification later.
This goes a long way in ensuring an interview waiver.

I did use a law firm for my application.
I was very satisfied with their services, with a couple of exceptions.
However, that was a long time ago and I don't know what their service is like now.
I can discuss further with you over email and tell you what I liked and what I didn't like about their service.
Please contact me by email.

Hope this helps and good luck.

I must have missed something.
Where is the advertising?

I think you are right if you are pointing it towards the originator of the thread!
