Hi Anjana,
It seems that I wrote that during last winter. It was worst even for canadian born whites!!
Yes, winters are cold here - but they are everywhere in Canada, except Vancouver, so if you are planning to go there then it is OK, but as you decided to come to Toronto, which 70 percent immigrants do, then don't care..
Here everybody is living with -10 to -20 degrees...

I am a South African Indian ...will be in Canada around 25 Nov. This is my first trip & this discussion about the cold makes we wonder if I should rather consider settling in Vancouver!
I have two south aftican goras working with me - and there are about 1 million desis living in gta and surroudings!!!

Dear Mr Garvoji,
I would perhaps like to meet & make a few friends whilst in gta - Desi or South African Goras. My email address:
BTW, there are about 1 million Indians in South Africa ... most of them brought here in 1870 by the British...sugar cane farming ...similar history to FIJI.
I lived in NZ for a while, the FIJI Indians are extremely similar to South African Indians
Notably, I stay 1 street away from the cricket stadium where the World Cricket matches were held...India played Pakistan right here! ....& lost miserably Vs Aus here too!
We enjoyed +11 yesterday and +7 today - not bad for one week before Xmas!
Vancouver is grey and gloomy, raining all the time.
Toronto has blue skies and crisp weather most of the days in Winter. Dress warmly when you go out, invest in good thermal wear (you can buy good ones at mark's workwearhouse). Layering is the key, invest in some good winterwear in layers. Wear good thermal lined boots if you have to walk outside, wear gloves. Learn some winter games and enjoy the snow and the cold of beautiful southern ontario.
