Hi Guys,
What's the best way to receive OTA channels without paying a monthly ransom to cable guy? I understand I will require an antenna. Can it be installed inside the house or outside? How many Canadian and US channels can one receive? I am good with fewer channels as don't watch tv much anyways...
I have a two years old rear projection Sony tv - if this helps.
Is someone already using it, and how's the picture quality?
Please provide me some info. Google is information overload.
Thanks.
If your TV is capable of receiving digital channels ( I believe so), you will get terrestrial channels from both Toronto and Buffalo with an indoor antenna depending up on your location. I have a digital tv Tuner with indoor antenna in my laptop and gets about 11 HD channels in Toronto.
Check this link http://freetoronto.tv/dclist.htm for a list of channels
( I am still paying my ransom to rogers )
I was also seeking to bail out from this ransom and have so far shortlisted these 3 antennae - 2 indoor and one outdoor ... -- the first one is rabbit ears or conventional indoor antenna ....

If some one has used any of these , kindly share experience .

Fido.
I'm not a huge TV fan. So this works for me.
I have a silly $10 antenna that I got from walmart few years back.
I am able to catch cbc, sometime abc, ctv, tvo, cts, wned, global, omni1, omni2, city-tv, sun-tv. I lost "Fox-29" after they went digital few months back.
Yes, sometime the reception is not clear. I have to "adjust" the antenna. Sometime I adjust for some channel and I loose some another channel. But, all in all, it works most of the time!
Sville - which one amongst the above is closest to yours ?

Thanks all. Looks like I am not the only one looking for these options.
I will try the rabbit ears first and then provide some updates. There are good reviews for it.
This article was in the toronto star yesterday and quite informative. Specially as most of us want to move away from the exorbitant prices Rogers and Bell charge.
