That is nothing but generalization. He seems to defend the level of corruption in India, by saying that it exists here too (at higher levels).

TK is wrong that the vast majority of Indians are vegetarians. Among the approximately 1180 million people, around 220 millions are vegetarians (source :

Also eating beef, pork or drinking regularly do not make one strong as TK'S post seems to suggest.

Shortcomings of Canada
1. I also agree that libraries are a waste in Canada. Most of the toddler books give you nighmares when you read them. Librarians and Library staff are generally on facebook or browseing. The books have been bought without even some one reviewing them. Most people come to the library to play games on the computer, get movies, songs etc...

Not at all. I can't get a good book at the library as there are mroe than 100 requests to borrow. Finally I end up buying instead of waiting for couple of months. Observe that kids here are enouraged to read. And why Chapters and other book stores are doing good business. People buy books and read. That's lacking in India. Its only Math and Science. English and grammer are secondary. Very few kids read comics. A 10th grade convent going kids cannot spell some simple words. They are good in Math and Science, no doubt abt it.

TO ALL MY FRIENDS WHO HAVE A BALANCED VIEW OF LIFE IN CANADA:

There simply is no way you can fight them - those full of prejudice, bias and bad judgment............... In their mind, everything about Canada is bad. While we have freedom to express our opinion, I find it appalling that some will spare no effort to bash Canada, while living here. Either it comes out of their inability to succeed (the ones who succeed don't gripe) or have short comings that they can not overcome.

To hide their shortcomings and weaknesses they use this forum to gripe, rant and spit venom on everything here. Everything here is not hunky-dory here. Just curious.......... why can't these people go back to India, toil, put their skills to good use and make the country a better place to live in?


As for me, I am going to make life easier for this clan. I propose to make a list of things that are "rotten" about Canada. Clan members can add to the list!

In case you wonder what this has got to do with the spectrum scandal....... every time someone writes about goings-on in India, the die-hard desh premis hijack the thread with their brand of Canada bashing!

Incidentally Mr.Obama who promised a transparent governance is not willing to reveal the names of the Pharmaceutical/Insurance big-wigs who visited the White House as he has made secret deals with them. He has obtained their promise that they will not oppose this Health Care Reform. Eventhough Mr.Obama has campaigned as a champion for the Open Option wherein the government will set up a Insurance company and will subsidize the health insurance for poor people he has been against it in the backdoor meetings.

Mr.Joseph Liberman the Democrat candidate for Presidency now opposes the open option and has vowed to shoot down the health care bill. He has been funded by the healthcare companies and also his wife had been employed by a PR company for healthcare companies. Evenwhen his home state has a solid backing for the open option he is going against the will of his people to shoot down the health care reform siding with the Republicans.

What do we name it ?. Bribe, corruption or as they call Lobbyist. If you take money directly you are corrupt while you take it from a lobbyist what are you?

This exists all over the world but we in North America have sugar coated terms for the same.

In India Amar Singh is a power broker/Dalal while in USA he will be called a Lobbyist with an office in Washington. But doing the same things of supplying finance, wine and prostitutes for the powerful.

But in between there was the tragi-comedy sequence enacted by the corporate forming a cartel to bring down the prices, ministers of UPA telling "didn't we say so, it can never reach 1,76,000 crores" (the CAG figure of loss) and canceling and reordering of auction by SC.

Recently AAP has uploaded a tele-tap conversation between 2G jailee Kanimozhi out on bail and the then Intelligence Wing Chief as how to manage the 212 crores "fund" received from the Tatas. Now she had to fear the cancellation of bail for tampering with evidence. But a week earlier Kanimozhi suddenly went sick and was hospitalised. The corrupt must be having AWACS planes flying around.

Has anyone heard of auctioneer himself under quoting, praying and wishing all the time that the bids do not reach a higher figure for his items to be sold. This and only this corrupt UPA government is capable of such happenings.

The latest we hear is that the UPA wanted and has now posted an "Additional Director" for the CBI over ruling the Central Vigilance Commission nominee, but for their own. This may be the fall out of the CBI chief Ranjit Sinha not implicating Gujarat Amit Shah in court cases "however much UPA government wished", as allegedly quoted by but later denied by the Chief.

Anyhow, we can now expect the 2G cases to be managed still better by the Additional Director, taking some load off Ranjit Sinha's shoulders.

These "business" newspapers are mostly the mouth pieces of businessmen. They print and support what is good for these businessmen than for the country. In today's India, the businessmen seem not bothered about the fate of the country. Even if the country goes to dogs, they can always stash the money earned far away in tax havens.

Recently, another issue involving Vodafone. Just because some chinese company (Hutch) wanted to sell its Indian interests and Vodafone too was keen, they did their entire transaction in a far away tax haven, totally avoiding tax to be paid to the Indian government amounting to as high as 11,000 crores.

Do not know, just because some Chinese company wanted to "sell" Taj Mahal, Vodafone would also do the same thing, and then come to India to claim ownership of the structure.

If Vodafone bought the Hutch rights in some God foresaken Indian Ocean Island, let them go and do business in the very same island or chase the Chinese inside their Great Wall to get back their money bag. But Vodafone seems to be afraid of their Shaolin Kung Fu and go nowhere near, but would only come to India.

Thus has Vodafone denied the income due to the people of India, whom they are supposedly going to "serve". What a way to begin their Corporate Social Responsibility. At least they could have realised their mistake, mended their ways and apologized to the people of India by paying their tax due. But on the advice of some lawyer, they have dragged the IT Dept all the way to the Supreme Court, all the time delaying and denying the payment. Only the SC lawyer seems to be laughing all the way to the bank, getting lacs as fee payment for every hour.

Finally, it is our people of India who are already "owning" scam stocks like 2G-1.76 lac crores, Coalgate - 2.0 lac crores, Odisha iron ore export - 54,000 crores, Karnataka Reddy Brothers Mines "Export" - another 50,000 crores, Reliance Gas Dig - 54,000 crores, Tamil Nadu Granite Export - 20,000 Crores, Tamil Nadu Beach Sand Export - 20,000 Crores, just to name a few.

Let the people of India also own this Vodafone "stock" 11,000 Crores.
