Unfortunately No. There are lot of persons who do Data recovery but they are very expensive & they charge you as per data recovered. So, if Data is not very important , forget about this HDD.

Is the HDD under warranty? If it is so and you want to claim the warranty, then you have to check with the manufacturer as they have some service providers who will do data recovery and will not void your warranty.

Its not under warranty. How much would it cost approx and what is a good place to get it fixed?

You can google it for Data Recovery Companies. Any Good Company will charge you upword of 500/1000 CAD.

I had the same thing couple of months back.
Eventhough the Drive was under warranty the manufacturer had nothing to do with the data. They simply replaced it with a new one.

Data recovery is too expensive and not guarenteed.

There are cheaper ones in Kijiji (Toronto) charging $50-$75, don't know about quality of work though.
