I can give you some numbers
If you are not covered by Provincial Health Insurance and also not by any Private Health Insurance, then you will be required to pay two types of fees.
This is for Nova Scotia
1. doctors fees which will vary between $30~$350 depending on the specialization or procedure (eg C-Section)
3. Hospital fees varies between $50~$3500.
On day room charges is $3250~$3500
You don't have to pay all the money in advance. If you have already established credit history in Canada, then hospital might accept payment in installments.
In our case, it was C-Section means staying in hospital for about 3 days. Total expenses worked out was abo. $20K.
Please call OHIP to check the coverage and then called the accounts and receivable section of the Hospital to check the actual expenses.
I have a complete list of expenses, if you need let me know.
Hi,
I thank you all for the time you had to advice me. I am just still wondering how will any body know that we left for that amount of time! especially when i get the " just go and no body will notice you" Advice, plus the fact that my wife,s OHIP card is valid to 2012. Not to mention that some one who landed and stayed for six months then travelled back home for two years and came back applying for the citizinship after six month. I hate to say that but every system has it,s downs.
Any way i am not taking any decision regarding it so far, still doing my research , sending E-mails and making calls.
For Saskatchewan province, the bonjour.gov.sk.ca says: "As a general rule, coverage will begin on the first day of the third calendar month following the date you established residency here. "
And not from the first day of re-landing in SK.
any other ideas or thoughts sharing will be hightly appreciated.

It is not a matter of insisting, it is just what is legally, morally right.
i spoke earlier about the system,s setbacks, dose,nt mean i will use them even if i know how, i was just trying to get a solution for the situation i am facing using the ideas of partners in here and i just mentioned those who get away with things, and i am pretty sure some of us know some thing about that.
Any way I have got a final answer from a settlement worker, and we are just waiting for the Gync. ,s report.
Thank you every one.

Fido.
Hope you have given complete information to your settlement worker. All the provincial, federal and municipal offices share the information.
If canadian government can give you back a dollar saying you overpaid it..they will/can also bill you for a dollar or less. This is just to quote they are prompt in their shoes and expect you to be too.
