Hi guys,

I have been reading the posts of various Canadian Desies and came to know that Toronto is only suitable for looking for office jobs. Then it occured to me to know about the major industrial areas of Canada particularly having various chemicals ands petrochemical factories (large ones). For example we all know that in India such areas are near Mumbai mainly located at Thane Belapur road or between Mumbai and Pune.

Can any Desies throw some light on this information about which are the most industrialised provinces and cities in canada. Ofcourse I am not discussing just Ontario region but also other areas preferably English speaking (as a main language).

Bye all

Vijesh

Ontario is the largest industrialized province. However, jobs in the petrochemical and oil sector are more in Alberta.

Hi Wisernow.

Thks.

Can u be more specific. Which cities or places are most industrialised in Ontario and Alberta? (from the Chemical and petro factories point of view).

Will it be wise to land in Alberta (in a particualr city) in order to secure a production job in Oil or petro sector? Which City? asuming no knowledge of French.

Bye Vij

I get your point, most of the freight forwarders do tmost of the liasoning jobs for the Export or Import companies, so these companies doest have to go to other places for further services, and by this way the freight forwarders have lots of services to offer and client is happy to deal with one person, hence its popular here. If you have 10+ years of exp you can start your own business in that feild.

All the best

Hi, I have lived in Toronto, have a fairly good job here in my field - financial analyst in manufacturing and services.

I want to move west to Alberta or BC for two reasons: more beautiful, more skiing, and Alberta has more affordable property i heard.

My wife was an interior designer by trade in India, and I know thats not the easiest job to find here in Canada. Hwoever, she is open to any 'creative' field (- whatever that means - such as environmental engineering, fashion, etc. I know nothing about these fields. I am a traditional accountant.

Is it true that it is much easier to find a job in Alberta than here? I see quite a few new imigrants here drive taxis and work in gas stations but they wer IT pros, bankers and even doctors back home ALso, whats the deal with Fort McMurray? Is it really the hottest place to be now? I need to hear a Desi's perspective on this.

My only fears: Alberta industry seems centred around oil and gas. What happens if one day the oil proces crash worldwide? I used to live in BC and moved here to TO because i found it very hard to get a job in Vancouver in 2001. Every time you relocate, its hard..you got to make new friends, understand the local scene all over again, etc....the older you get , the harder it is.

Anyway, all you Alberta gents and ladies out there, i would really appreciate a reply. And thank y uou very much in advance!

Thousands of workers either live at company camps on-site or here in Fort McMurray, where an affordable housing shortage gives rise to tales of people buying $350,000 trailers or sharing apartments with multiple roommates. Retailers, meanwhile, are having a difficult time recruiting people to work in stores and shops at $15 an hour because the local wage structure has been so skewed by high-paying petroleum companies.
