I am an individual who is educated with basics is India as well as Canada now I am wondering if i should be in India or Canada....both are possible (i was in Canada for two years)...but i cannot decide...please enlighten me.

Now India is growing like anything ...but Canada has infrastructure, India is densely populated but Canada is stupidly cold.....

I am not concerned about my future kids going to an English school (my story is enough) or getting pregnant at 16 (child marriage san drowry) or smoking or wife or whatever (yes also i am a open category)

Its just that India is so bloody booming...jobs everywhere.

Just cannot figure it out and ...help me by taking part in attached poll

It really does not matter...once you make a decision stick with it and don't have second thoughts/regret.
I voted Canada because currently I am here and hate paying half of my income to the useless taxes..but being said that If I just assume that I have the real income of 50%, it is still better than what I would be earning in India. To live the lifestyle and peace of mind you will have to pay money more than what you are paying here..
India is booming..but has it's own problems as well..infrastructure, air quality and day by day increasing cost of living. Even if you earn decent sal, you will still be a middle class one...na ghar ke na ghaat ke. You can easily drive a beemer but will have to drive in the middle of the night so that an auto does not hit it and keep worrying about EMI since equal types of cars are at least 25% more than the cost over here. Decent toys from fischer price will cost double than over here..same goes for the minute made juices etc..Did you know that to get a decnet education your child needs to be in that school from JK and will have to compete with 1000 other kids other than paying huge sums of donations?
You will get a bai to do house work but you will always be worried if she will show up next day or when you need her most.
Not only recent surveys but even today many my close ones will get out of there if they get a chance.
But again if you go there you will have decent job with possibility of hundreds folks reporting to you, play cricket every now and then and enjoy the culture there.
Here is what I see happening in India, currently and in near future. Similar to US there will be 2 India..1) Filthy rich 2) dirt poor. Killings, kidnappings, drugs, gun violence will be on rise aloing with suicides. Law and order will try to keep up but again corruption and politics will have set back..oh and did I mention about the problems from India's neighbours? terrorism, attacks, insurgency? wow..the list goes on and on. Hate to do this but fact is fact.
Brighter side: Huge highways/bridges over places one never imagined. Rural areas getting developed and have equal opportunities. Businesses will grow with magnificent speed. IPL having more teams and there will be little leagues and senior leagues.Prolly start leagues in field Hockey and Kabaddi as well.

One more thing..If India is booming..Canada will keep booming. there is so much to dig here it could fulfil the needs of both India and China (including USA), be it oil, metal or food, even water. Caviat is as long as Russia is busy in developing and supplying weapons..:)

Thank you everyone for your feedback.

Needs and wants of every human being change with time.

I was somewhere on the immigrant cycle then chose not to be an immigrant in a land of immigrant, hence this posting,

In the last ten years I was traveling for almost six years and had the opportunity to interact with people from all walks of life. Having interacted with people of Indian decent from Africa to Guyana to Californian fruit picker, I am still unable to understand this conundrum call migration.

Earlier the thought of living in India use to scare me, but now after my Canadian experience I am rediscovering my India.

Earlier I would wiki GDP/happiness/Per capita, but now I realized how illiterate I was.

Seriously friends, topics like child education/killings/kidnappings/drugs/gun violence/suicides don't bother me anymore.

I look into innocent eyes of hard - working people here in India, and envy them, without doing anything they have progressed, salaries have gone up, house prices have gone up, and I who challenged/questioned/fought/migrated.... failed to keep pace with them, also they are so content.

and this time I may not leave the herd come rain or sunshine.

Are you serious? Indian newspapers are crammed with suicide stories everyday. You don't feel sorry for the person who committed suicide or its consequences to their families? You must be really thick skinned. And more problems won't bother you until someday it will stare right into your face.

I do not really understand why suicide is the only option available to so many Indians? Are we too ashamed/afraid to discuss our problems with family members or psychiatrists? Are we too afraid to face the society after a failure? Social services in India has a major issue at their hand.

Are you describing Utopia? India has progressed "without doing anything"? And the "innocent eyes" and "content"?? - I must be living in some other India.

If Indians were so content, corruption wouldn't have been a major issue. I can understand when a poor person steals a loaf of bread to feed his family, but what about all the bureaucrats and politicians who are not content even after receiving so much illegal wealth?

The OP is just looking at the hariyali and not at all concern about other issues. Also he uses words like "May" even in his firm decisions....like

so may be he will leave the herd during cold and moonshine?

Do not see any point in debating/discussing this anymore...

Sorry guys I was traveling, my first visit to Gujarat, amazing roads, Baroda, Ahmadabad.

Many years ago had an job offer in Gujarat but didnot move to Gujarat as Godhra and no beer.

but now Gujarat rocks, was exhausted and wished for a beer out of curiosity, but could only find moonshine at an omlette stall, wish i had some local beer contacts.

Also my views on Modi are doing a 180 now,

and if i move to Gujarat will make sure i have sufficient DIY beer kits, also Modiji please please only beer, as sometimes i like beer n puri.

------------------------------------------------------

Hi Manserwadekar,

In my post i wrote may as \"never say never\" ....also as Canada has amazing fishing and hunting.

also thanks for correcting on come rain or shine,
but \"cold and moonshine\".... wow hope LCBO is not listening.

---------------------------------------

Hi Meghal

1)My comparison was about stupid Statistics about GDP and percapita and reality like in Canada household income is high as in reality a home need at least three set of working hands to sail in Canada.

and in-spite of the bad things (suicides/infanticide/ etc)in India and reality.

2)Also about India has progressed \"without doing anything... well sometime back i had posted about IT engineers and their Chaiwala. IT engineers and others funds sellers are bringing in money so overall GDP has gone up, so chaiwala is now making more money, trickle down effect.

Also by hard - working people i meant people at the lowest level, or normal non IT, non stock trader.... , or a conservative hard working middle class whose house price has gone up, giving access to better things in life.

3) Corruption...I am as much ok with Desai (MCI), Home Secratary Ravi, Ms Madhuri Gupta (latest corruption scams in India), as i am ok with Adam Giambrone and Rahim Nizar Jaffer scams, sorry its universal.

----------------------------------------------------

TC everyone
