In my college time, one of my professor, also from my home town; had the ‘American Dream’. In spite of unwillingness of his parents and strong opposition from his wife, he stated the process. It was not so tough those days and he got invitation from a prestigious university in US. But for the resistance from his wife and pleas from parents to live together, he had to shelve the plan.
Obviously, gentleman had grudge of not been able to make it, kept on repeating it and wife had to take most of it. At one stage, the lady started feeling guilty for holding him back, eventually committed suicide. The days became months and then years. His son was in university now. Father fulfilled his old cherished dream by sending his son to US. After initial struggle the son got well settled. In the beginning years, son was making phone calls, also responding to mails and calls from back home. Days passed by and weekly calls became quarterly then vanished. What the professor couldn’t do, his son did.
The professor is living in a very big home in an Indian city, alone …
