Just wanted to know -
What would be the approx / average utility/hydro/gas bill in winter for a 3 bedroom townhouse if we keep the thermostat warm (we've got small kids) and keep the heater on only in the room we use. Washing / bathing - for a normal family of 4.
Incase the above charges are included in the rent (eg condos), is the heating fixed and centralised?
We are working on an average of CAD 200/pm for all utilities. Is it ok or too low?
Thanks.
Average utility bills will be close to $ 300 . Generally heating / AC is central so you do not have choice to turn it down in the rooms you do not use .
Water bill is base upon your usage - i.e more you use water , the more you pay for sewer .
Average 100 $ / mnth including sewer charges .
Elctricity ( Hydro ) : You can control your hydro bills upto an extent . Use this chart

Gas : Generally used for heating ,warming water and in some cases cooking .
Roughly bill will be 200+ $ in winters and 50-80 $ in summers .
Hope it helps a little
