I was driving down on Hwy 407 in toronto and i was on 100 Km speed.

all of a sudden i had a big wooden box hit my car , and i have no idea where this box came from. it must be 3 feet big wooden box and hit my car on the side. and i had a broken head light, crack in bumper, and lots of scratches. I did try calling 407ETR , but they told me to email them the details; which I already did.

Now i am wondering if this will be considered my fault? I have to go to collision centre asap , and i am sure they will ask me the details and i have to be very carefull with my details.

anyone knows how insurrance company would treat this case? its important, so any feedback is appreciated ?

Thanks

It is considered "foreign derbies" in the accident book.

I had similar thing on 400, it was a muffler from a truck. Fortunately the trucker was there about 1 KM ahead of where the object fallen and it had hit other 5 drivers. I called police, they took a note of it and it all went to the trucker's insurance.

If the damage is not much, I would not care. If you still need to report to, just report to insurance company as it is without waiting for the 407ETR folks to respond and let your insurance company work on it.

Hi;

OP post suggests damage was not small.

Now, if the source of such 'foreign debries' cannot be known or traced then whose insurance will be affected? After all, insurance company never pay from its pocket; I guess. They will always look for prey from where the paid claim can be recovered.

The system, as I understand, is premium paid is all for them to keep. For any claim(s), someone will will pay extra premium.
