With customers and vendors located globally, bringing work home includes lots of conference calls with people on the other side of the world. I used to have 6 am and 9 pm separate calls with China, Korea and Australia every week.
But there is hope for entertainment....coz' the best was when the Poles and the Chinese went at each other in "english"....and we North Americans could only wonder what they were talking

Well, I think H1-B will despair in the a few years. Because of the bad economy, no one be able to hire overseas. To bad for immigrants.
While most of the productivity related comments are valid but still there are jobs where 'availability' is more important like during extended support, customer care, off hours maintenance work etc. Also working odd hours to match up with different time zones. working for projects on tight deadlines where working extra hrs become apparent for even an efficient one. Desis score more on these situations apart from being cheap, grateful, more sacrificing and less demanding. Employers exploit these factors for sure. But there are rookies coming in big time from other countries like Philippines, China etc who can work more efficiently, play less and speak english. Watch out!.
There is nothing called work-life balance as far as employers are concerned, it is personal choice and the natives chose to have that option more than anybody.
