hello all,
recently i received huge phone bill from bell for my home phone. some long distance ISD number appeared in my bill which i did not call from my phone. after enquiring with Bell, i understood that it was due to some auto dialing from my Home PC modem. Now I am not ready to pay for this extra amount which is around $130. can u comment pls? wht should i do? is it fair that i change my phone service with out paying this bill?
if its an autodailer program, then you are screwed... you are stuck with the bill because one way or another, the calls were placed from your phone after the program was authorized to make the connections (its the stupid popup that asks to install itself etc etc and says something like "by clicking yes you agree to the terms and conditions)...
part of those conditions state the dailer has access to make calls on your line...
if you dont pay the bill it will be sent for collections and eventually show up on your credit report...
best option is, lodge a complaint with bell, suck it up, pay the bill and get adsl... oh and dont surf porn sites that are free
Hi aj55,
I have been reading about this scam in the Toronto Star. Here is the link to the what I believe to be the latest article on this issue. Hope it would help.

Special Requests: Please call me after 5:30 because I am self-employed and my employer does not know I am looking for another job
I would agree with the rest ....... pay the bill .... for the fact that the amount is too small to have your credit spoiled. However, keep talking to Bell about this and make sure you send a copy of your letter to multiple offices at Bell so as to establish a certain accountability .
I have had alomst a similar issue in the past..... and eventually after talking to a C.S. Supervisor had the amount creditied back. $130 is your hard earned money.....
Best of Luck.
