Hi
Does any one know how long it takes to take an oath from the date you apply for citizenship in Ottawa region?
What are the documents one has to take with him when go for citizenship test/oath? My passport has been expired for last one year and I have not renewed it after that as I am planning to be a Canadian citizen and want to have only one, Canadian passport.
Should I take my expired old passport with me when I go for the test OR only medical card, driving license , permanent resident card and landing paper are enough?
Please reply
Thanks

There is an intermediate stage before the oath and that is the written test that you have to give. I have recently given my test and it took me approx 7 months to get the date for the test form the day I applied. I am in Hamilton and I cannot say how long it waill take in Toronto. Supposedly it depends on the number of applicants and so forth. Although the letter that informs you of the test, asks you to bring apersonal ID(preferably photo like your dr license) and your passport with the Record of Landing(IMM1000) or the PR card as the case may be, in my case the staff at the test site did not ask for the latter. Once the test is over, and they inform you of your pass/fail status right away after the test, I think it takes anywhere between 4 to 8 weeks for the oath ceremony. I have not got the call for the oath yet, but we were told to bring our passports(again with the Record of Landing) or PR cards when called. I am sure they will specify it in the call letter. In any case, I am sure they take away the Record of Landing/PR card once citizenship has been ordained on you.

Thanks a bunch for the information Pramod and Wisernow.
I was under the impression that Ottawa time would be significant less than Toronto as Ottawa is much smaller.
Do you guys know how can I open a IT/Import-Export consulting company? Is it complicated to do? or I just have to register it?
