All the best to two of you. We miss you.
Hi,
I am so happy to read this post. I am also leaving Canada with my 2 children in Feb, 2011.
All my friends keep telling me that this is a bad decision, after staying in Canada for 18 years, leaving now is a mistake. But I feel confident about my decision, and after reading similar minded post, I feel much better.
Please share all your experiences after reaching India.

Difficult decision to take. The only issue I am facing is getting credit cards, getting a proper ID for simple issues such as Tel connection.
We hold Cdn PP and I had left Canada earlier this year. Got a reasonable job- in India but in my own field. PG Studies in Canada helped.
Kids are settling down - new languages to learn.
But in the end - WE ARE HAPPY ABOUT OUR DECISION. Living with our aged parents - which no money can substitute.
Luckily we did not invest in a house or RRSP or RESP. Came with 2 bags each and left the same way !!
Good luck to other's who are facing similar issues.
First of all - congrats and all the best with your new life in India.
Would you mind sharing and posting the details of the co who is doing this for you. How much does it cost and the time it takes to reach India?

Originally posted by KumarM I am shipping four boxes to India that has used kitchen stuff, swaters, sleeping bags, etc.
The good news is that I shipped out the boxes. The buyer wants an early closing, so I can leave in a week. Sleeping on a borrowed sleeping bag as I sold the bed. Just have the tv and the phone.
We had made the ground work for this. We all have PAN cards, BSNL landline is m my name. So the identity is established. My wife has voters ID also. Rest fell in place. In our case, it was just the decision making. As they say “darna mana hai” When we all came to west, we took some risk. We did not know how it worked out in a foreign country, still we stuck out. Same thing, here its our own place, friends, relatives, etc. For me it was no risk.
What do we miss in Canada? Clean environment, people following rules, secure job, hassle free life (most of the time), etc. But it’s ok for me and my family to leave everything and go back to our place. We have family responsibilities. By gods grace, good wishes from fellow CDs and blessings from elders, I know it will work out for us.
Hi CD,
Did you arrange for the job before you left Canada or you found the job in India after reaching there. I will be staying in Mumbai, should I be looking for the job from here or should I wait till I reach there to find one.
I have applied for OCI so that I should not have any problem when it comes to an ID
One more thing, could I drive there with my Canadian license or not?
