Me. But India was my second choice. Gulf was the first. Due to the credit crisis, all Architecture jobs have disappeared. Canada, with its massive stimulus package seems better for me at this stage until atleast Winter of 2009/Summer of 2010. A

Mostly UAE which is the queen of the Middle east

- What kind of planning required for moving back?

If you plan to go to India, I would first of all see if I can get a good job in the place that I want to move. I would see the salary offered and the perks offered. Also I would want to see the life in the city and the availability of English schools. For example, I would prefer to settle in Chennai or B'lore when compared to Baruch or jamnagar

Me, job and may be the Indian stock market

- How would you search Job OR Plan for Business before/after moving to India?

Apply in Naukri.com. talk with my friends in India to see if they can refer me. In some cases, I would see if I can bribe a local officer to get me a job in a leading concern

- What about money invested in RRSP/RESP?

Depends. If I am planning to come back, I may keep them here otherwise withdraw and go. Also Please do remeber that if you plan to come back in your old age to Canada with your children, your children can get a loan from the govt. for studies and you may qualitfy for Welfare / Pension /Old age security. I would try to keep my assets off shore.

- Dual Taxation Issue?

No idea

- How to settle successfully in back home?

You have been in India for so long before you came abroad. you are the one to answer this question. Examples can be moving to big city with your parents, educating your children in english speaking schools, eating Boiled egg / Pani Puri / Pau Bhaji on the road etc...

If you can afford International schools , I can see no problem. If your children are fluent in Gujarathi, then also I donot see any problem. You can get tutions for them or even try to make them study at home (home tution) for one year and then put them in school.

On the Dual Taxation issue - if you close all 'residential ties ' per CRA , then you are not liable for taxes in Canada and are still a citizen / PR .... This involves but not limited to - closing of Bank Accounts / tenancy / property / RSP / Tax related investment matters .

If you do not wish to do so , you have an option of paying your taxes in India , report your world income to CRA and claim reduction of tax liability for tax paid in India .

On a side note , leaving job prospects which are the 5 best cities in India to settle down with regards to cosmopolitanism (multilingual acceptance ) , safety & civic sense and climate --- Hyderabad / Pune / Bangalore / Ahemdabad ??

I do rear a feeling of homecoming which brings instant peace and satisfaction . Hope I can put it to effect some day ...

There is a previous thread on this subject matter. Please revive and bring it back to the fore front.

There were some topics about RNOR, Tax implications and the financial side that needs to be taken care of prior to return etc., are discussed there in. I will delve a little deeper and post to the board at that location and will have some continuity in that thread.

Will some one do the needful.

Thanks,

Freddie.

I am exploring this idea but I will have to search for ideas for opening a business ,like getting a loan etc.
Can some one tell me where can I get project reports ,which can give me a complete info about the project say like opening a manufacturing business, or opening a kindergarden school.

Home , sweet home!

Don't forget the corruption at the customs in India, they are going to ask you for some money to release your own goods ! So calculate that into it too.

As far as possible try to sell or get rid of most of your stuff over here..its not really worth the cost, time & hassle to ship the goods to India. Lot of stuff like electronics etc won't even work over there, due to volatge issues etc.
