Guys,
Please ignore this thread if you are not interesting. This thread is not for discussion of North America Vs. India [Both are good].
Here are some DESI including me who are interesting to move back to India and looking for help. I like to create a network of these guys to help each other for successful planning of moving back to India.
This thread I am creating to know/discuss about
- Who are thinking/planning to move back to India in future or already moved
- Where/When are you planning to move? Why? [to netive place or to the place where you can have good job/business opportunity]
- What kind of planning required for moving back?
- What is the plan after moving? [Bussiness/Job], What kind?
- How would you search Job OR Plan for Business before/after moving to India?
- What about money invested in RRSP/RESP?
- Dual Taxation Issue?
- How to settle successfully in back home?
- What kind of difficulty could be there for our children to settle in India?
etc.
You can add more points if you wish.
I belive that the moving back to India and to settle successfully over there is tough journey than immigrating from India to NA and settle here. This may be not true for everyone but lets discuss about planning of moving back to India and how to settle successfully in India?
cheers...

Very interesting.
I was going to request GG to start a new forum as "Return to India". I am considering moving back in the next few months and have many questions and am sure I can find a few answers in this board.
Lets hope this thread goes along way. As the OP has requested please please contribute in a constructive manner.

First of all let me start myself.
I am in IT field and doing well in Canada. I have 9 years experience in IT (2 years in India + 3 years in USA + 4 years Canada) and now I am planning to move back to Ahmedabad city before June 2010. [My home place]
I have enough time for planning. I would prefer to secure Job in Ahmedabad/Gandhinagar before moving. I want to invest in business to generate regular income (for living expense) within 1 to 2 year after my move.
[Expecting to share information about searching jobs in India from Canada]
[I am looking for different kind of business idea and detail plan of investment/profit/operation etc.]
I've decided to open RRSP account with ING Direct because it allows online withdraw and providing online contribution/withdraw receipt. [There may be other banks which allows similar kind of banking]
For money transfer after moving to India, I've plan to use ICICI account which is link with accounts at CIBC.
I think initially it will be tough for our children to settle there in school environment. [More home work and different school environment] but it can be managed. That is why I prefer to move back before June 2010 because my son will be in 1st grade at that time. I believe if we spend more years here with children, it will become more and more difficult to settle in India and we may endup with keep extending our moving plan.
Please ask/share questions/answer as per your plan.
Thanks

I am planning a move back to India as well.
By when: 2011 or sooner depending...
Finances: Yet to plan a strategy as investments are all down now I live in a home which I will have to sell.
Work: I am in an IT consulting firm that has a branch in my hometown and they have confirmed the possibility of transfer. So I am not going to worry about finding a job back home...
Family: In her heart and mind my wife is already there. My child is still very very young so it should not be a big switch by then.
While I am going to get proper advice from my financial advisor which I would be more than willing to share, any insight from fellow members here would be appreciated regarding RRSPs, RESPs.
