Has anybody got their PR card renewed? Do we have to go and pick it up from their office or is it sent by mail to resident? What is the process?

Also suggest can PR be renewed if a person fails to reside in Canada for approx 3 years in last 4 yours. For example, if person reached in Canada in 2007 and only able to live say for approx 600 or 700 days till 2011. Will the PR get renewed or person has to leave Canada?

once you apply for renewal, they will sent u a letter indicating from where and when to pick up ur card. And the applicant has to go in person to pick the card....

I think requirement is ONLY 2 years to reside in Canada out of 5 years validity of PR card. For any reason, shortage of requred days could be waived by immigration, if satisfactory explanation provided to immigration at PR renewal time.

Permanent residents applying to renew their PR card:
may hold on to their still valid PR card and return it to a Citizenship and Immigration Canada officer when they pick up their new card;
should return it with the application for a new card, if the card has already expired.

In all cases, a replacement card will not be issued until the previous card is returned or otherwise accounted for.
